Job summary

WSP India is seeking an experienced professional for HV cable design, manufacturing, and testing leadership across HVAC and HVDC projects. The role emphasizes delivering multi-discipline projects, maintaining safety and contractual compliance, and building strong client relationships.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, 5–10 years of relevant experience, and familiarity with CYMCAP software for cable design and ratings. Chartered status is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline; electrical or power specialty preferred.
• Extensive experience in design, manufacture and test of HV cables for HVAC and HVDC.
• Understanding IEC cable standards and CIGRE policies; capable of acting as a cable expert.

Responsibilities

• Assist leadership technically for successful delivery of multi-discipline projects.
• Ensure projects meet contract requirements and safety standards.
• Develop external and internal client relationships.
• Coordinate sub-contractor and remote resource activities.

Job Description

WSP is hiring an Extensive experience in the design, manufacture and test of HV cables for use in HVAC and Desirable - HVDC projects both onshore and offshore; including HV cable system design and ratings (CYMCAP).

Responsibilities

• Assisting the leadership technically for the successful delivery of multi discipline projects.
• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the contract to the satisfaction of the client, ensuring that relevant Health and Safety risks are identified, made known to the project team and properly managed.
• Actively developing external and internal client relationships.
• Providing technical management coordination of any subcontractors and resources remote from the core project team.
• Ensuring that technical risks are identified and mitigated.
• Ensuring that all statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
• Actively taking part in Industry working groups such as CIGRE, IEEE.
• Actively developing external and internal relationships

Qualifications

• Education - Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline, preferably Electrical or Power engineering with five to ten years of experience.
• Extensive experience in the design, manufacture and test of HV cables for use in HVAC and
• Desirable - HVDC projects both onshore and offshore; including HV cable system design and ratings (CYMCAP)
• An understanding of IEC cable standards and CIGRE technical policies, its suite of technical specifications and supporting documentation, and the capability to fulfil a role as a cable expert.
• Preparation, review and validation of Technical Proposal from Transmission & Distribution projects.
• Preparation of technical documents/calculations using Cable Modelling Software's CYMCAP'S.
• System designing experience - Selection of Bonding System, Earth Continuity Cable & Co-Axial Cable, Short circuit calculations, Cable Bonding layout.
• Experience of witnessing 3rd party cable activities such as test, installation, transport etc.
• Attained or working towards Chartered Engineer status.
