Job summary

WSP India is seeking an experienced Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to support a wide portfolio of power networks, generation, and infrastructure projects in Bengaluru. You will lead line design work, interact with global teams, clients, and regulators to understand requirements and negotiate solutions.

The role requires hands-on design with PLS CADD and AutoCAD, experience with UK/Nordics circuits up to 400 kV, and the ability to deliver compliant, manufacturable designs on schedule while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical engineering with 14+ years of experience.
• Professional qualification or near Chartered members preferred.
• Experience designing UK or Nordics overhead line circuits up to 400kV.
• Knowledge of Eurocode is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sag-tension calculations using PLS CADD with weathering, clearance, and loading conditions.
• Prepare loading calculations in Excel and in PLS CADD.
• Create PLS tower models per international codes.
• Spot towers using LiDAR data.
• Attend site meetings virtually and support design changes during project build.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards.

Our Power and transmission section in GCC India - Sweden is looking for an overhead transmission line Engineer to support our wide portfolio of power networks and generation, and infrastructure projects, with a focus on our ever-growing portfolio of projects and clients seeking support with overhead transmission line design. Members of our power and transmission team not only perform the line design, but directly interact with colleagues in our other engineering teams, and with clients and regulators to understand requirements and negotiate solutions.

Requirements, Technical:

• Knows to Prepare Technical Abstract from feasibility study and Specification.
• Prepare Sag tension calculations using PLS CADD with defined weathering conditions, clearance checks and loading conditions using PLS Tower, in line with the specifications as per international standards.
• Prepare loading calculations in excel & as well as in PLS CADD (Power Line Systems - Computer Aided Design and Drafting) software.
• Preparation of PLS tower models as per international codes.
• Spotting of Towers with Lidar Data.
• Preparing engineering documents related to transmission tower, foundation design calculations etc.,
• Attend site meetings (virtual) and provide ongoing design drawing changes / support as required during project build.
• Knowledge of all applicable engineering standards.

Key Competencies / Skills:

• Proven experience in the design of UK or Nordics Overhead Line Circuits (Towers and/or Poles) at any voltage up to 400kV.
• Experience with PLS Tower/PLS pole for Tower Development is required.
• Tower Spotting using PLS CADD is mandatory. AutoCAD experience is required.
• Eurocode experience is preferred.
• Wood transmission line pole design, Structural Design experience is an advantage but not mandatory.

Desired Skills:

• Ability to negotiate effectively with internal and external clients.
• Deliver superior quality designs and deliverables that meet the technical schedule.
• Good communication skills, Team work, experience in working with countries outside India.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical engineering, 14+ years of experience in the domain of activities.
• Professional Qualification or near Chartered members are preferred.
