Job Overview

We are looking for an Engineer – Mechanical Design based in Chennai, India. The position requires a highly energetic, result-driven, self‑motivated, and proactive individual with sound knowledge of mechanical design and development. Candidates should also possess strong leadership, interpersonal, presentation, communication, conflict‑resolution, and stakeholder‑relationship management skills. Other core competencies include customer focus, strategic thinking, functional excellence, integrity & ethics, and professional maturity.

Prospective candidates should have around 8+ years of experience in mechanical product design and development, with expertise in electromechanical products (sheet metal and plastic design). Collaboration with the US product engineering team is essential, and designs must meet UL, IEEE, and NEMA standards.

Responsibilities

• Understand electrical products and conceptualize new ideas for product development and improvement.
• Perform electromechanical calculations.
• Design products according to UL, IEEE, and NEMA standards.
• Create drawings based on ASME Y14.5M – 2009 standards.
• Use Autodesk Inventor for modeling, assembly configuration, drafting, routing, and electrical harnesses.
• Apply knowledge of plastics, ferrous and nonferrous materials to select appropriate materials.
• Utilize GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Apply DFMA guidelines during design.
• Create prototypes, manufacturing, sales, catalog, and assembly packaging drawings.
• Use design tools such as FMEA, VA/VE, and DFMA methodologies.
• Collaborate as a team player and communicate with US engineers to understand project requirements.
• Act as the technical interface to the US team, ensuring projects are executed within agreed schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical.
• Minimum 4‑5 years of design and development experience.
• Hands‑on experience with plastic and sheet‑metal component design.
• Knowledge of UL, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Strong GD&T proficiency.
• 3D modeling and assembly experience using Autodesk Inventor.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with the manufacturing industry or should‑costing is an added advantage.
• Experience in electromechanical product design is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Vault.
• Basic proficiency in SolidWorks is an added advantage.
• Experience with DFMEA, VA/VE, and DFMA methodology.
