Job summary

Ingersoll Rand Inc. is seeking an Indirect Purchasing Buyer–Sr. Engineer to manage procurement of indirect materials and services for plant operations in India.

You will source suppliers for tools, MRO items, packaging, utilities, and office supplies, while ensuring timely material availability and cost savings. The role requires 8–10 years of indirect procurement experience, strong supplier management and contract skills, and proficiency with Oracle ERP and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or equivalent in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• 8–10 years of indirect procurement experience in manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, cutting tools, machining consumables, MRO items, utilities, and supplier management.
• Good negotiation, cost analysis and contract management skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle) and MS Office.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement of indirect materials and services for plant operations.
• Source and negotiate suppliers for tools, consumables, packaging, utilities, safety items, office supplies, and facility purchases.
• Ensure timely availability of materials while achieving cost savings, quality and delivery targets.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships, conduct supplier evaluations, and support vendor development.
• Obtain quotations, compare offers, negotiate, and release purchase orders.
• Monitor supplier performance, lead times and inventory to avoid disruptions.
• Support contract management, freight and logistics procurement, and service agreements.
• Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, EHS and Finance teams for requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement and process efficiency projects.

Job Overview:

Responsible for managing the procurement of indirect materials and services, developing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost-effective and timely supply to support uninterrupted plant operations.

• Manage procurement of indirect materials and services required for plant operations.
• Source and negotiate suppliers for Cutting tools, machining tools, MRO items, consumables, packaging materials, plant utilities, safety items, office supplies, and facility-related purchases.
• Ensure timely availability of materials while achieving cost savings, quality, and delivery targets.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships, conduct supplier evaluations, and support vendor development initiatives.
• Obtain quotations, compare offers, execute negotiations, and release purchase orders.
• Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and inventory levels to avoid production disruptions.
• Support contract management, freight and logistics procurement, and service agreements.
• Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, and Finance teams for procurement requirements.

Requirements:
