Job Overview
The Mechanical / Thermal Engineer will execute and support New Product Development (NPD), cost reduction, and sustaining initiatives, with a strong focus on speed, quality, and effective coordination. The role requires strong mechanical and thermal fundamentals to support product design, validation, and electro‑mechanical integration. The individual will work closely with cross‑functional and global teams to ensure timely execution of engineering deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Execution: as an individual contributor responsible for the execution of assigned project tasks and deliverables.
- Drive project planning, scheduling, and tracking of milestones to meet business objectives.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation and reports.
- Design & Engineering: develop and evaluate engineering proposals and concepts; perform design calculations (thermal, machine design, fluid mechanics) independently; validate for functionality, manufacturability, and performance.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: work with Design, Procurement, Engineering Laboratories, Plants, and Quality to execute projects in product development and cost‑reduction.
- Testing, Validation & Problem Solving: prototype builds; analyze test data; resolve issues independently; perform validation and ensure compliance with UL standards; conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Project Management: plan, schedule, and execute projects with full accountability; identify risks proactively and implement mitigation actions; ensure delivery aligned to timeline, cost, and key performance indicators; close projects with proper documentation and closure reports.
- Process Improvement & Innovation: contribute to process improvements and cost‑optimization initiatives; foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Apply engineering tools & methods: DFMEA, DOE, VAVE methodologies; leverage GT Suite, Mathcad, and other analytical platforms for continual improvement.
Qualifications
- M.Tech in Design or Thermal.
- 8–10 years experience in Product Design and Development, preferably in Refrigeration/Air Conditioning.
- Hands‑on experience executing engineering projects with focus on product optimization, continuous improvement, and technical support.
- Experience applying design principles to product design and correlating with actual product testing.
- Hands‑on experience with design calculations and validation.
- Experience in project execution, problem solving, and sound technical decision‑making.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and perform statistical data analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in presenting through MS tools.
- Positive attitude, strong team player, and effective cross‑functional collaboration.
- Creative mindset, strong affinity for learning, and ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
