Jacobs is looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Engineer - Highways to deliver highway-related infrastructure projects in Chennai. The candidate will work under the guidance of a Project Manager or Team Lead.

The role requires leading design tasks, conducting QA/QC checks, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. Ideal candidates should possess a BE Degree in Civil Engineering and 7-12 years of relevant experience with proficiency in OpenRoads or Civil3D.

Qualifications

• 7-12 years’ experience in highway engineering design, preferably in a Global Design Center.
• Minimum 6-7 years of proven highway design experience.
• Knowledge of engineering standards like DMRB, AASHTO.

Senior Engineer - Highways

Overview

Motivated and experienced Road Design Engineer to deliver highway‑related infrastructure projects, working under the guidance of a Project Manager or Team Lead. Responsible for planning and design phases of urban, rural roadways, expressways and freeways.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager or Team Lead on design tasks to support highway engineering activities.
• Plan and conduct detailed design of roundabouts, priority junctions, signalised junctions, interchanges, and generate earthwork quantities.
• Conduct QA/QC checks per company policy, ensuring sound and coordinated design internally and across disciplines.
• Manage design work, review and provide guidance to junior team members.
• Communicate with counterpart in lead office and client.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on project delivery.
• Show flexibility in work tasks and locations, and share knowledge with the team.

Qualifications

• BE Degree in Civil Engineering or Post‑Graduation in Transportation/Highway Engineering.
• 7‑12 years’ experience in highway engineering design, preferably Global Design Center experience.
• Minimum 6‑7 years of proven highway design experience using OpenRoads or Civil3D; exposure to Inroads, 12D, TransiCAD, PDS Sign & Lines preferred.
• Knowledge of engineering standards (DMRB, AASHTO, AusRoads, Middle East) and local authorities’ guidelines.
• Capacity to lead projects independently and integrate with a larger project team.
• Experience with a Common Data Environment platform such as ProjectWise or BIM360.
• Professional status as Chartered Engineer or progression towards ICE or equivalent.
