Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited in Chennai is seeking a gear design engineer to create EV transmission components. You will design gear trains for EV reducers and e-axles, perform detailed gear calculations, and optimize micro-geometry for NVH and durability.

Responsibilities include sizing, gear selection, and collaboration with CAE teams for FEA and durability evaluations, with a focus on manufacturing readiness and test support.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in gear design and development.
• Familiarity with ISO 6336, AGMA and DIN standards.
• Experience with gear design software like KISSsoft, KISSsys, Romax or Masta (preferred).
• Proficient in NX CAD with 3D experience.
• Strong understanding of gear theory, manufacturing processes and heat treatment.

• Support gear testing activities including single flank and dual flank tests and EOL NVH limit setting.

Job description

Design and develop gear trains for EV reducers, e-axles, and hybrid transmission systems (SHEV)

Perform detailed design of:

Helical Gears,Spur Gears,Planetary Gear sets,Differential Gears,Shafts and related transmission components

Conduct gear sizing, ratio selection, strength calculations, and micro-geometry optimization.

Develop transmission concepts considering efficiency, NVH, packaging, durability, and manufacturability.

Analysis & Validation

Perform gear design calculations in accordance with:

ISO 6336,AGMA standards,DIN standards.

Conduct:

Gear strength analysis,Contact stress analysis,Bending fatigue analysis,Scuffing and micropitting assessments

Support NVH optimization through gear micro-geometry modifications and tolerance stack-up analysis.

knowledge on Gear testing like Single flank, dual flank tester ,EOL NVH limit setting.

Worked closely with CAE teams for FEA, Mechanical, and durability evaluations.
