Job summary

Vishay Precision Group, Inc. (VPG) in Chennai seeks a Senior Engineer - Customer Quality to lead the Customer Quality function within the Quality team. The role focuses on managing customer quality concerns, applying structured problem-solving, and driving PPAP/change submissions.

The incumbent will act as the primary interface between customers and internal cross-functional teams, translating requirements into actions and ensuring sustained quality performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Production / Electrical / Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• 8–12 years of experience in Quality / Customer Quality in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience in customer complaint management and structured problem solving.
• Experience in PPAP and engineering/process change management.
• Experience in leading or mentoring Quality Engineers.
• Experience in direct interaction with OEM / Tier-1 customers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Customer Quality function and team of Quality Engineers to manage and close customer quality concerns.
• Drive structured problem-solving, corrective/preventive actions, and PPAP/change submissions.
• Serve as key interface between customer and internal teams for quality matters.
• Coordinate PPAP submission process for new products and changes.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer - Customer Quality at Oragadam, Chennai to join our Quality team on a full-time basis.

1. Job Purpose

Lead the Customer Quality function and team of Quality Engineers to ensure effective management and timely closure of customer quality concerns. Drive structured problem-solving, customer communication, corrective and preventive actions, and PPAP/change submissions to achieve high customer satisfaction and sustained quality performance.

The role will serve as the key interface between the customer and internal cross-functional teams for quality-related matters and will ensure that customer requirements are effectively translated into internal actions.

2. Key Responsibilities / KRAs

A. Customer Complaint & Concern Management

• Lead the team in handling customer complaints and quality concerns from initial receipt through effective closure.
• Ensure timely containment and protection of customer requirements.
• Lead and review 8D / structured problem-solving activities for customer concerns.
• Ensure root cause is established through data and objective evidence.
• Ensure corrective actions address occurrence, escape and system-related causes, where applicable.
• Review effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure prevention of recurrence.
• Monitor and drive closure of open customer concerns within agreed timelines.

B. Customer Interface & Communication

• Act as the primary quality interface with customers for assigned programs/products.
• Coordinate customer meetings, quality reviews and technical discussions.
• Provide timely and accurate responses to customer concerns, including interim containment, investigation status and permanent corrective actions.
• Handle customer escalations effectively and ensure appropriate internal management escalation.
• Build strong customer relationships through transparent and fact-based communication.

C. PPAP & Change Management

• Coordinate with PE for PPAP submission process for new products, process changes and engineering changes.

Requirements:
