Job summary

Jobtailor in Bengaluru is seeking a senior backend engineer to design, implement, and optimize large-scale services. You will work across teams to translate business needs into robust architectures and maintain high performance under heavy load.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in distributed systems, strong CS fundamentals, and hands-on experience with Golang, Python, Java or Ruby on Linux-based production environments. You will influence the roadmap and improve engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in commercial software development in large distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, testing and deploying large-scale applications using Golang, Ruby, Python, .NET Core or Java.
• Deep knowledge of Linux as a production environment.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and asynchronous architectures.

Requirements

• Expert in at least one of: Golang, Python, Ruby, Java, C, C++
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming, including design patterns
• Ability to design and implement low-latency RESTful services
• Experience building backend services handling high-volume traffic
• Strong understanding of system performance and scaling
• Data modeling experience with relational and NoSQL databases
• Ability to plan, prioritize, estimate and execute releases predictably
• Ability to scope, review, and refine user stories for technical completeness and dependency-risk mitigation
• Familiarity with the Golang ecosystem
• Familiarity with running web services at scale; systems internals and networking are a plus
• Familiarity with HTTP/HTTPS communication protocols
