Job summary

Yanw ar Engine Manufacturing India (YEMI) Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a hands-on engineer for Diesel Engine Assembly operations in Chennai.

The role focuses on line balancing, workforce optimization, and ensuring product diversity while maintaining ergonomic standards on the shop floor. Candidates should have 4–6 years of experience in automotive OEMs, with preferred experience in Diesel manufacturing. Qualifications

  • BE/BTech in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering (Full Time).
  • 4 to 6 years’ experience in automotive OEM.
  • Experience in Diesel Manufacturing industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on experience in Diesel Engine Assembly Processes and manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of fastening technologies, torque strategies, and validation/monitoring tools.
  • Experience in line balancing, workforce optimization, and product diversity management to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Understanding of ergonomic principles and standards with practical improvements on assembly lines.
  • Knowledge of engine traceability systems ensuring product history and process compliance.
  • Hands-on experience in equipment planning, installation, commissioning, and production start-up activities.
  • Experience in preparing RFQs and technical specifications, and commercial evaluation for facility-related projects.
  • Review, validate, and control facility and equipment specifications throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Developing and maintaining process documentation (PFMEA, QCPS).
  • Understanding KPIs, monitoring team performance, driving continuous improvement and business objectives.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD for engineering layouts and drawings.
  • Exposure to ISO standards, QMS, audit compliance, and document control practices.
  • Basic project management skills with coordinating external suppliers, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and report preparation skills.
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement, cost reduction, productivity and quality initiatives within manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hands-on experience in Diesel Engine Assembly Processes and manufacturing operations.

  • Experience in line balancing, workforce optimization, and product diversity management to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Sound understanding of ergonomic principles and standards, with practical experience in implementing ergonomic improvements on assembly lines.
  • Knowledge of engine traceability systems, ensuring effective product history management & process compliance.
  • Hands-on experience in equipment planning, installation, commissioning, and production start-up activities.
  • Experience in preparing RFQs technical specifications,commercial evaluation for facility-related projects.
  • Capability to review, validate, and control facility and equipment specifications throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining process documentation, including PFMEA ,QCPS documents.
  • Understanding of KPIs, with the ability to monitor team performance, drive continuous improvement, and achieve business objectives.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD for preparation and review of engineering layouts and technical drawings.
  • Exposure to ISO standards, QMS, audit compliance activities, and document control practices.

  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis, systematic troubleshooting, and implementation of effective corrective actions.
  • Skill required in Effective presentation, communication, and report preparation, with the ability to present technical and business information to management and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, productivity enhancement, and quality improvement initiatives within manufacturing operations.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
  • BE / B Tech in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering (Full Time)
  • 4 to 6 years’ experience in automotive OEM
  • Experience in Diesel Manufacturing industry is preferred,
