Job summary

Greaves Electric Mobility seeks a Sheet Metal Engineer to develop and validate sheet metal parts for 2-wheeler chassis systems, including frame, swing arm, handlebars and battery structures.

The role requires strong expertise in sheet metal forming, fabrication, and MIG/TIG welding, with a focus on tool development, DFM reviews, GD&T, APQP/PPAP and process validation to ensure on-time production readiness.

Responsibilities

• Develop sheet metal parts for 2-wheeler chassis system (Frame, Swing arm, Handlebar, Stand), brackets, battery structures and other assemblies.
• Strong knowledge & experience in sheet metal forming (Blanking, Piercing, Bending, Flanging, Embossing, Laser cutting), Fabrication & MIG/TIG welding process.
• Knowledge in sheet metal raw material grade, thickness, manufacturing process, joining method and surface treatment.
• Tool development experience & review tool design concepts from tool maker, Manage end-to-end sheet metal New product development activities.
• Review product drawings for tooling feasibility and manufacturability.
• Conduct tool trials, prototype development and process validation.
• Experience in Welding Fixture & Gauge - Design & Development.
• Hands on experience in GD&T and Tolerance analysis.
• Conduct DFM reviews with supplier, assess sheet metal process issues (spring back, burr formation, thinning, wrinkling, cracking).
• Ensure on-time development and production readiness. Conduct tool trials and drive corrections based on dimensional and functional results.
• Experience in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA & SPC.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities (VA/VE) and process improvement activities.
• Problem solving & Root cause analysis (8D, Pareto Analysis, Why-Why Analysis).
• Support proto vehicle build, SOP and Engineering validation activities.
• Support ECO/ECN implementation and horizontal deployment of design changes
