Job summary

Nisko Pinnacle Telematics seeks a Senior Embedded Engineer to design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for IoT water meters and utility monitoring products.

You will work on microcontrollers, sensors, metering electronics, and communication modules, implementing UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, Modbus, BLE, LoRaWAN, and 4G. This role collaborates with hardware teams, emphasizes low-power design, and supports field deployments.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for IoT water meters and utility monitoring products.
  • Develop firmware for microcontrollers, sensors, metering electronics, and communication modules.
  • Implement communication protocols: UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, Modbus, BLE, LoRaWAN, 4G.
  • Collaborate with hardware/PCB engineering for bring-up and debugging.
  • Develop low-power firmware for battery-operated meters to extend life.
  • Handle data acquisition, sensor interfacing, and measurement algorithms.
  • Integrate LoRaWAN and cellular modules for remote transmission.
  • Create firmware for configuration, data logging, and remote monitoring.
  • Perform firmware debugging, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Address field hardware/firmware issues and support product improvements.
  • Develop bootloader, OTA updates, and firmware upgrade features.
  • Contribute to product development from prototype to production release.
  • Prepare architecture, documentation, tests, and release notes.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure maintainable code, with IoT data communication.
  • Coordinate with cloud/software teams for device integration.
  • Support testing, calibration, certification, and field deployment.
  • Mentor junior engineers and guide the development team.
  • Liaise with PCB, production, testing, and field-service teams.

Role & Responsibilities Senior Embedded Engineer

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for IoT-based smart water meters and utility monitoring products.
  • Develop firmware for microcontrollers, sensors, metering electronics, and communication modules.
  • Develop and integrate communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, Modbus, BLE, LoRaWAN, and 4G.
  • Work closely with the hardware/PCB engineering team for hardware bring-up, debugging, and firmware-hardware integration.
  • Develop low-power firmware for battery-operated smart meters to optimize battery life.
  • Implement data acquisition, sensor interfacing, measurement algorithms, diagnostics, and device control.
  • Integrate LoRaWAN and cellular communication modules for remote data transmission.
  • Develop firmware for meter configuration, parameter setting, data logging, and remote monitoring.
  • Perform firmware debugging, testing, validation, and troubleshooting using debugging tools and laboratory equipment.
  • Analyze and resolve field-level hardware/firmware issues and support product improvements.
  • Develop bootloader, firmware upgrade, and OTA update functionality where required.
  • Participate in product development from prototype development through testing and production release.
  • Prepare firmware architecture, technical documentation, flowcharts, test procedures, and release documentation.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure efficient, reliable, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Work with cloud/software teams for IoT device integration and data communication.
  • Support product testing, calibration, certification, and field deployment activities.
  • Mentor junior embedded engineers and provide technical guidance to the development team.
  • Coordinate with PCB, production, testing, and field-service teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Stay updated with new embedded technologies, communication protocols, IoT standards, and low-power design techniques.
