Job summary

MakeMyTrip is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with 3–5 years of hands-on experience to design, automate, and scale our cloud infrastructure. You will own CI/CD pipelines and drive reliability and observability with engineering teams to ship fast without compromising stability.

Responsibilities include building scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS/GCP/Azure with IaC, managing Docker and Kubernetes, setting up monitoring and logging, and leading incident response and postmortems.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps/SRE roles.
• Proficiency with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Containerization with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines end-to-end.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go for automation.
• Monitoring/observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, Datadog.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with 3–5 years of experience to design, automate, and scale our cloud infrastructure. You will own CI/CD pipelines, drive reliability and observability practices, and work closely with engineering teams to ship fast without compromising stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi).
• Own and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) to enable fast, reliable, and safe deployments.
• Manage and optimize containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes, including cluster upgrades, autoscaling, and resource optimization.
• Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog) to ensure high system observability.
• Define and track SLIs/SLOs; lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and postmortems for production issues.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks (deployments, scaling, backups, rollbacks) to reduce manual toil across teams.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to embed DevOps/SRE best practices into the development lifecycle.
• Implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure, pipelines, and access management (DevSecOps).
• Manage cloud cost optimization and capacity planning to balance performance with budget.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a strong reliability and automation-first culture.

Key Skills

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps/SRE roles, with strong exposure to at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Strong experience with containerization and orchestration — Docker and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines end-to-end.
• Solid scripting/programming skills in Python, Bash, or Go for automation.
• Working knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, Datadog, or similar).
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, load balancing, VPCs, firewalls) and Linux system administration.
• Experience with incident management, on-call rotations, and writing postmortems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Good to Have

• Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
• Exposure to service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
• Relevant certifications — AWS/GCP/Azure Certified DevOps Engineer or Solutions Architect.
• Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Experience working in a high-growth product or startup environment with rapid scaling needs.
• Understanding of compliance/security frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001) as applied to infrastructure.
• Contributions to open-source DevOps/SRE tooling.
