Job summary

Kohler India is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead end-to-end NPD projects, create 2D drawings and 3D CAD models, and manage design data in SAP and Windchill. You will work with engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative consumer goods products.

The role requires hands-on CAD proficiency, GD&T knowledge, and experience across casting, machining, rubber parts, sheet metal, and injection molding. Collaboration and risk-based decision making are essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Creo CAD design and drawings experience.
• 3D parts modeling and concept creation.
• Knowledge of tolerance stack analysis and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute end-to-end multiple NPD projects with minimal guidance.
• Prepare detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for tooling and manufacturing.
• Conceptualize and design products to meet requirements and standards; create detailed CAD designs.
• Maintain design documentation, CAD libraries and ERP data (SAP).
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to ensure final product meets expectations.
• Oversee projects from start to finish, ensuring on-time delivery within budget.
• Preferred background in consumer goods.
• Communicate progress with the manager and project teams and seek support to achieve goals.
• Exercise self-direction in planning and execution; use data-driven judgment and acceptable risk-taking.
• Follow approved processes and document new design practices as needed.

Job Description

• Independently leading and executing end to end multiple NPD projects under minimum to no guidance
• Prepare detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for tooling and manufacturing
• Conceptualize and design products that meet specific requirements and standards, Create detailed designs
• Maintain and update design documentation, CAD libraries and ERP data (SAP).
• Work collaboratively with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure that the final product meets all expectations.
• Oversee the entire project from start to finish, ensuring that it is completed on time and within budget
• The preferred candidate would be from consumer goods domain
• Refer manager & project team to communicate the progress on project goals and regularly seek support/facilitation for achieving those goals with project teams.
• Receives general direction but exercises self-discretion as to work details, planning & execution. Make appropriate decisions based on the set process, data, logical rational & critical thinking. Willing & successful in taking moderate risks.
• Ensure all set processes are followed with allowed deviation from the business units and development as well as document new processes and design practices as per business needs.

Preferred Skills

• Hands‑on experience on Creo software Part, Drawings & assembly modeling.
• Efficient in Concept creation, 3D parts modeling
• Knowledge on tolerance stack analysis and evaluation of form, fit and function, Knowledge on GD&T
• Fluent in using Windchill PLM, data management systems & ERP (preferably SAP) systems.
• Knowledge on Casting, Machining, rubber parts, sheet metal, cold forming & Plastic Injection Molded components.
• Knowledge on End-to-End New product development
• Familiarity with prototyping and testing equipment

• Adaptability and eagerness to learn
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Good Communication skills: Working with CFT's and suppliers for project executions. Work with Project lead engineer to execute the project.
• Calculated Risk taker: make appropriate technical decisions taking risk with long term or strategic consequences and can justify risk under critical review.
• Problem solving with good analytical and data analysis skills.
• Good abstract reasoning and urgency quotient.
