Job summary

Regal Rexnord is seeking a Design Engineer II in Pune, India, to advance New Product Development and VAVE projects within industrial mechanical power transmission. The role requires 5+ years’ experience and offers involvement from concept through manufacturing readiness, with cross-functional collaboration and DFMEA risk mitigation.

You will design for manufacturing, review drawings, participate in PPAP and provide input to FEA, while keeping up with industry trends and supporting manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from a reputed college.
• Masters degree in mechanical engineering is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support NPD, technology improvement and ETO projects with minimal supervision.
• Develop specifications and concepts; prepare design for concept and detail reviews.
• Prepare design for manufacturing and assembly assessments; DFMEA planning.
• Plan and execute lab testing; provide inputs for FEA and review results.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams; drive PPAP approvals and pre-production support.
• Execute VAVE projects independently; identify opportunities to simplify/improve designs.
• Prepare and review design documents such as drawings and data sheets.
• Conduct competitor analysis and stay updated on industry trends.
• Support plant deviations and customer complaints; resolve engineering issues.
• Lead NPD/ETO/VAVE status meetings with business units.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:

Regal Rexnord is looking for a dynamic with 5+ years of experience in the area of Industrial mechanical power transmission. This position shall support primarily New Product Development, Technology Improvement, ETO and VAVE projects with minimum supervision.

Major Responsibilities:

• Support engineering activities with minimum supervision to complete New Product Development, Technology Improvement and ETO Projects through Customer Focused Innovation (CFI) stage gate process.
• Develop specifications, provide new concepts and detailed design of new products. Prepare for concept design and detail design reviews deliverables.
• Prepare design for mfg. & assembly assessments. Prepare detailed risk assessment and mitigation plans thru' DFMEA Assessment.
• Prepare & execute lab testing plans. Provide inputs for Finite Element Analysis to validate the concepts and final designs. Review results and provide ideas.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to execute project deliverables, PPAP approvals, pre-production support etc.
• Execute various VAVE projects independently as assigned. Understand the product design, mfg. processes and look for opportunities to simplify/improve designs at assembly, component, and raw material level.
• Prepare and review design documents such as drawings, calculators, installation instructions, customer data sheets etc.
• Execute competitor analysis, benchmarking projects. Keep up to date on industry trends, mechanical powertrain industry/technology.
• Support plants deviations /customer complaints and solve technical problems arising in engineering, manufacturing, and quality.
• Drive NPD, ETO, VAVE Project Status update meetings with Business units.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

• Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from a reputed college. Masters degree in mechanical engineering is a plus.
• 5+ years of Product design, VAVE projects experience in Automotive, Conveying or material handling industry etc. Experience in a global/multinational company is preferable.
• Experience in designing injection-molded plastic components, snap-fits, enclosures, and functional mechanisms. Good understanding of polymer material properties and shrinkage.
• Hands on experience with design engineering principles and practices. Acumen for design decisions and ability to give attention to details.
• Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and specifications including GD&T, material standards, Industry standards AGMA, API, ANSI, ISO. etc.
• Good project management skills
• Proficient with drawings and models using 2D/3D CAD software (SolidWorks/Solid Edge/AutoCAD)
• Knowledge and experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
