Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Physical Science, or equivalent marine qualification.
• 8+ years' experience in shipping/newbuild/technical role(s).
• Knowledge of marine mechanical and electrical systems, vessel design, and operations.
• Understanding of Class Rules, statutory regulations, and emerging marine tech.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards accreditation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Act as engineering and electro-technical lead for newbuild projects and advisory activities.
• Provide knowledge across vessel design, construction, commissioning, testing, and delivery.
• Review technical documentation and advise on Class, statutory, regulatory, and emerging tech requirements.

We are seeking an experienced Marine Engineering professional to provide technical leadership and advisory support across newbuild projects and emerging marine technologies. The ideal candidate will offer extensive knowledge of marine mechanical and electrical systems, regulatory requirements, project execution, and technical risk evaluation, while assisting clients from early design through construction and final delivery.

The role

• Act as the engineering and electro-technical lead for newbuild projects and technical advisory activities.
• Provide specialized knowledge across vessel design, construction, commissioning, testing, and delivery.
• Review technical documentation and advise clients on Class, statutory, regulatory, and emerging technology requirements.
• Conduct technical assessments, feasibility studies, risk analyses, and advisory reviews for marine and electrical systems.
• Support projects involving decarbonisation, alternative fuels, energy storage, automation, and digital technologies.
• Participate in commissioning activities, acceptance testing, sea trials, and delivery readiness assessments.
• Manage technical projects while ensuring quality, compliance, schedule, cost, and risk goals are met.
• Review and assure the quality and consistency of technical deliverables.
• Support client engagement, proposal development, and business growth opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with LR procedures, industry standards, and continuous professional development requirements.
• Promote a safe working environment by identifying and mitigating health and safety risks, ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Monitor health and safety performance, support a strong safety culture, and implement corrective, preventative, and continuous improvement actions where required.

What you bring

• Degree in Engineering, Physical Science, or equivalent marine qualification with relevant seagoing experience.
• A Class I/II engineering certificate for Chief or Second Engineer, or an applicable engineering degree.
• 8+ years' experience in the shipping industry, including newbuilding, technical superintendent, shipowner technical teams, or seagoing engineering roles.
• Thorough knowledge of marine mechanical and electrical systems, vessel design, and operations.
• Understanding of Class Rules, statutory regulations, and emerging marine technologies.
• Experience in technical assessments, project delivery, and stakeholder management.
• Effective communication and project coordination skills.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or working towards accreditation, is desirable.
