Job description

Senior Category Manager, Grocery, Amazon Now

Amazon Now, Amazon India's quick commerce offering, is looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to lead the Grocery/Food charter. This is a high-ownership leadership role at the intersection of category strategy, P&L management, and selection development for one of Amazon's fastest-growing businesses in India. The leader will own end-to-end category outcomes - driving margin improvement, building a differentiated and regionalized food selection, incubating private label and premium offerings, and scaling instant consumption verticals. The role requires working backwards from customer needs in a sub-15-minute delivery paradigm, while partnering deeply with brands, sellers, pricing, instock, and tech teams to shape the category's long-term trajectory. The ideal candidate combines strong commercial acumen, structured problem-solving, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

  • Lead margin improvement initiatives across vendor negotiations, funding constructs, pricing architecture, and mix management, delivering measurable bps improvement to category economics.
  • Build and scale new growth verticals including gourmet/premium selection, regionalized food offerings, private label, and instant consumption categories.
  • Develop and deepen strategic brand partnerships - driving joint business plans, exclusive launches, and brand-funded growth programs tailored to quick commerce.
  • Partner with tech and product teams to shape tooling, cataloguing, and selection intelligence capabilities that improve speed and quality of category decisions.
  • Author high-quality business documents (strategy papers, business reviews, leadership escalations) and represent the category in senior leadership forums.
  • Hire, develop, and mentor category talent; raise the bar on analytical rigor, ownership, and customer obsession within the team.
  • Monitor competitive and market dynamics (assortment, pricing, share) and translate insights into actionable category interventions.
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional or military experience
  • Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements and leading cross-functional groups to orchestrate and successfully complete deals
  • Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software
Preferred Qualifications
