Job summary

Ciel HR in Bengaluru seeks an experienced CAM programmer to develop and optimize CNC machining programs using CAM software based on 2D drawings and 3D models.

You will generate toolpaths for 3-axis to 5-axis machines, select tooling and feeds/speeds, and verify programs with simulations before production. Collaborate with Production and Engineering to ensure quality and productivity, and support setters during first-off runs.

Role & responsibilities

• Develop and optimize CNC machining programs using CAM software based on 2D drawings and 3D models.
• Generate and modify toolpaths for 3-axis, 4-axis and/or 5-axis machining, as required.
• Prepare CNC programs for VMC/HMC and other CNC machining centres.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, machining strategies, feeds and speeds.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances and 3D CAD models.
• Perform toolpath simulation, verification and collision checking before production.
• Optimize programs to reduce machining time, tool wear and material wastage.
• Support CNC setters/operators during first-off component development and prove-out.
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues and make necessary program modifications.
• Develop and maintain standardized CNC programming methods and documentation.
• Work closely with Production, Tool Room, Quality and Engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
• Ensure programs meet required quality, dimensional accuracy and productivity standards.
• Review and improve existing CNC programs for cycle-time and process optimization.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in CAM programming.
• Proficiency in Mastercam / NX CAM
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes and tooling.
• Good understanding of G-code and M-code.

Knowledge of 3-axis / 4-axis / 5-axis machining will be an added advantage.
