Job description

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to bridge business requirements with agile project execution, including occasional Scrum Master responsibilities. The ideal candidate is expected to own requirements end-to-end, from first conversation with stakeholders through final sign-off and will be the single point of accountability for ensuring that what is built aligns precisely with what was agreed. This role involves liaising between stakeholders and the development team, translating business needs into clear, actionable deliverables while guiding the team toward value-driven outcomes.

A significant focus of this role is the depth of analysis that happens before development begins. You will be expected to think beyond the happy path — proactively identifying edge cases, system boundary conditions, and exception scenarios that often go undiscovered until late in the cycle. The role requires the ability to translate ambiguous problems into clear, actionable, and well-defined specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements, translating them into detailed specifications for IT teams
• Maintain and version‑control requirement documentation, keeping it up to‑date as scope evolves
• Act as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and the engineering team, translating domain knowledge into precise functional specifications
• Challenge incomplete or contradictory requirements early and drive resolution rather than passing ambiguity downstream
• Work with project teams to ensure requirements are accurately implemented and manage change requests throughout the project lifecycle
• Systematically identify and document edge cases, boundary conditions, and exception flows for every feature
• Collaborate with QA to ensure edge cases are converted into testable acceptance criteria and are covered in test plans
• Maintain an edge case register per feature, ensuring traceability from scenario to requirement to test case
• Support sprint planning by ensuring user stories are refined, acceptance criteria are clear, and the team has no open questions before picking up work
• Participating in UAT — coordinating with end users and validating that the delivered functionality meets agreed requirements
• Proactively communicate scope risks, gaps, or changes as they emerge
• Develop, review, and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including business cases, process flows, functional specifications, user manuals, and testing protocol

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Proven experience (5+ Years) as a Business Analyst or Senior Business Analyst role, with expertise in documentation, application testing, team management, and requirements analysis
• Strong understanding of business processes, data modelling, and agile project management methodologies
• Proficiency in using data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI)
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
• Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing or mentoring team members
• Knowledge of Agile project management methodologies

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Master’s degree in business administration, Information Technology, or a related field
• Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA) is a plus
• Experience in the maritime industry is a plus
• Familiarity with business process modelling tools (e.g., Visio, Lucid chart) and/or programming languages
• Leadership & Team Management: Ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team to achieve high performance.
• Analytical Thinking: Expertise in analysing complex data to drive business decisions.
• Problem-Solving: Skilled in identifying issues and effectively managing resolutions.
• Adaptability: Ability to handle a dynamic environment, balancing multiple projects and priorities.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous in all aspects of documentation, testing, and data analysis.
