Job summary

Rapid7 is seeking a Senior Atlassian Systems Administrator to own and evolve our Jira and Confluence environments. You will serve as the primary support contact, drive platform governance, and ensure reliable performance across our Atlassian stack.

In partnership with IT, DevOps, and business teams, you will design scalable solutions, automate operational tasks, and develop concise documentation and dashboards to support executive decision-making.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on Jira and Confluence administration in a business environment.
• Strong knowledge of databases (SQL), Linux/Windows operating systems, and networking.
• Automation and reporting experience using PowerShell, Bash, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with IT service management and ITIL framework concepts; ITIL certification is a plus.
• Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to translate business needs into scalable configurations.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across IT, DevOps, and business units.

Rapid7 is seeking a knowledgeable and technically grounded Senior Atlassian Systems Administrator to drive the ownership, performance, and strategic evolution of our Jira and Confluence environment. This role combines platform administration, service management best practices, and cross-functional automation to enhance user experience and ensure platform governance across our ecosystem.

About the Role

As a Senior Atlassian Systems Administrator, your primary responsibility will be to oversee, maintain, and evolve our enterprise Jira and Confluence environment in alignment with business priorities and ITSM best practices. Specifically, your focus will be to:

• Act as a primary support contact for Jira and Confluence usage, configuration requests, and platform governance.

• Assist with user management, project setups, permission schemes, workflows, and custom fields across the suite.

• Partner with internal teams to understand requirements and advise on scalable solutions that align with Atlassian best practices.

• Support integrations between Atlassian tools and other systems, including directory services, DevOps tools, and knowledge bases.

• Participate in service support activities including ticket triage, user troubleshooting, and system performance monitoring.

• Develop and maintain clear platform documentation, standardized templates, executive dashboards, and operational reports.

• Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and business stakeholders to drive process improvements and automation within the Atlassian suite.

• Apply technical fundamentals in databases, operating systems, and networking to support platform performance and configuration decisions.

The skills and qualities you'll bring include

• Bring 6+ years of hands‑on experience using Jira and Confluence in a business environment.

• Demonstrate foundational technical knowledge in databases (e.g., SQL), operating systems (Linux/Windows), and networking principles.

• Utilize scripting capabilities in PowerShell, Bash, JavaScript, or other languages to support automation and reporting.

• Support IT service management processes and ticketing systems, backed by a general understanding of ITSM concepts and ITIL framework principles (ITIL v3 or v4 certification preferred).

• Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess root causes and design viable technical solutions.

• Translate captured business needs into practical configurations and scalable platform solutions.

• Establish ownership and clear expectations by holding self and others responsible for driving operational outcomes and meeting business commitments.

• Build global networks across IT, DevOps, and business units to deliver sustainable platform improvements that create enterprise value.

• Make efficient decisions that resolve platform challenges and sustain operational momentum while ensuring transparency and governance.

• Communicate technical objectives and rationale clearly to foster alignment and commitment across diverse stakeholder groups.
