Job summary

Amgen in Mumbai seeks an experienced IP Docketing Specialist to manage docketing for US and foreign patents, coordinate filings, and oversee related documentation. You will work with cross-functional teams and leverage Anaqua to maintain accurate records.

The role requires 5–9 years in IP docketing, strong communication, and a proactive, detail-oriented work style in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time position based on-site in Mumbai.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor's degree with 5–9 years IP docketing experience.
• 4+ years IP experience in biotech or pharma.
• US and foreign patent prosecution experience.
• Proficiency with Anaqua docketing system.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Review patent prosecution correspondence from US and foreign offices.
• Send filing instructions to outside associates and track follow-ups.
• Manage patent dockets and key dates for US/foreign offices.
• Prepare reports using Anaqua IP management software.
• Advise patent staff on US/foreign patent rules and present findings.
• Coordinate international filings via PCT and Paris/EP routes.
• Manage annuity payments.
• Review submission documentation for patent offices.
• Review formality documents: assignments, declarations, powers of attorney, statements of use.
• Coordinate invention disclosure processing.
• Create, maintain, and audit database records (Anaqua).

Job description

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and docketing patent prosecution correspondence from US and foreign patent offices;
• Sending filing instructions to outside associates; maintaining follow-up correspondence; and ensuring completion of all country specific formalities;
• Managing patent dockets, including determining and docketing critical dates for US and foreign patent offices;
• Preparing reports through IP Management Software (Anaqua);
• Serving as a resource to the Patent Department staff regarding U.S. and foreign patent law rules and regulations, including making presentations at patent staff meetings and researching country law requirements using online resources such as Kluwer IP;
• Coordinating international filings through the PCT, entering the national phase, as well as direct Paris Convention filings and EP validations;
• Managing payment of annuities;
• Reviewing documentation prior to submission to the U.S. and foreign Patent Offices;
• Reviewing formality documents including Assignments, Declarations, Powers of Attorney, and Statements of Use;
• Coordinating invention disclosure processing and review; and
• Creating, maintaining and auditing database records (Anaqua).

Qualification & Experience

• Master’s degree/bachelor’s degree and 5-9 years of IP docketing experience.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Associate/baccalaureate degree or completion of an ABA-approved legal assistant/paralegal program
• 4+years intellectual property in biotechnology or pharmaceutical sector
• US and Foreign patent prosecution experience
• Proficiency with Anaqua docketing system
• Motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, such as oral and written communication skills.
• A demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and to work both independently and in cross-functional teams.
