About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished Senior Architect & Planner at AVP level to lead the design and delivery of large-scale infrastructure and commercial projects. The ideal candidate will hold a postgraduate qualification in Architecture / Urban Design / Urban Planning from a reputable institution and will bring a minimum of ten years of post-qualification experience — with a significant portion of that gained within a recognised architectural design practice or multidisciplinary design consultancy. This is a senior leadership role requiring both creative vision and rigorous technical execution. Experience in warehousing and logistics facilities, data centres, or mission-critical industrial infrastructure is an added advantage. The successful candidate will serve as a key technical authority within the team, driving projects from concept through to completion while mentoring the next generation of design professionals.
Responsibilities
- Lead architectural design and planning across all project phases — feasibility, concept, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and site administration.
- Own the design direction for large-scale, high-complexity projects including industrial, warehousing, logistics, data centre, and mixed-use commercial developments.
- Create masterplan / concept-level design proposals for complex and multi-asset projects.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams — structural, MEP, civil, and specialist advisors — to ensure design integration, coherence, and quality throughout.
- Prepare and present design proposals, planning submissions, and technical documentation to clients, statutory authorities, and key stakeholders.
- Navigate statutory planning approvals, building permits, zoning regulations, and AHJ requirements across relevant geographies.
- Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and technical due diligence for greenfield and brownfield development.
- Monitor project budgets, programmes, and quality benchmarks throughout the design and construction lifecycle; identify and proactively manage risks.
- Liaise with contractors, project managers, and construction teams during delivery to ensure design intent is upheld to completion.
- Mentor, guide, and technically review the work of junior architects, designers, and graduates within the team.
- Stay abreast of evolving building codes, sustainability standards, and industry best practices; champion their adoption within project teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Educational Background
- Master b9s degree in Architecture (M.Arch or equivalent) from an accredited institution — strongly preferred; Bachelor7s degree considered where complemented by an exceptional track record.
- Registered Architect / Licensed Professional in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Postgraduate or professional certification in a related discipline (Urban Planning, Project Management, Building Technology, or similar) — advantageous.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience in architectural design and planning.
- Substantial experience (5+ years) within an established architectural design practice, multidisciplinary design.
- Demonstrated delivery of large-scale projects (50,000 sqm+ GFA or equivalent capital value) from inception through to completion.
- Experience in mixed-use developments is critical. Experience in the following asset classes is advantageous: warehousing & logistics facilities (distribution centres, fulfilment hubs, cold-chain); data centres (Tier II/III/IV, hyperscale, or enterprise); industrial or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS PowerPoint, SketchUp, and Illustrator.
- Solid understanding of structural systems, MEP integration, and building envelope design as applicable to large-scale infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of planning law, development control frameworks, and statutory approval processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with sustainability certification processes — LEED, BREEAM, Green Star, or regional equivalents.
- Experience on Design & Build (D&B) or Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) project delivery models.
- Exposure to international or cross-border projects; ability to navigate diverse regulatory and cultural environments.
- Postgraduate qualification in Urban Planning, Project Management, or a related built-environment discipline.
Skills & Competencies
- Sophisticated design sensibility balanced with strong technical literacy and commercial acumen.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills — confident engaging clients, consultants, authorities, and C-suite stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with sharp problem-solving capabilities and sound judgement under pressure.
- Highly organised; capable of managing multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities without compromising quality.
- Collaborative team leader who inspires confidence at both peer and senior stakeholder levels.
- Detail-oriented in documentation and deliverables without losing sight of the broader design vision.
- High personal and professional integrity, with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
