Job summary

Yash Group of Industries seeks a seasoned Section In-Charge - Sand Plant to manage sand plant operations within the Sand Plant Maintenance department. The role requires 5-10 years in foundry sand/moulding operations and a Diploma/BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Production/Foundry Technology.

You will lead operators, ensure sand quality, and coordinate with multiple departments to optimize production. The position emphasizes 5S, continuous improvement, and strict process control to maintain performance

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in Foundry Sand Plant or moulding operations.
• Diploma or BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Production/Foundry Technology.

Responsibilities

• Oversee sand plant operations, production and quality.
• Control and maintain green sand properties (moisture, compactability, permeability, GCS).
• Ensure sand preparation, mixing, reclaim, and distribution per standards.
• Monitor equipment ( mixers, conveyors, screens, coolers, reclamation).
• Manage consumables (bentonite, coal dust, additives).
• Coordinate with Moulding, Melting, Quality and Maintenance for smooth production.
• Analyze casting defects related to moulding sand (blowholes, veining).
• Monitor sand consumption, productivity and losses; drive improvements.
• Implement 5S, safety, SOPs, Kaizen and continuous improvement.
• Maintain daily production, quality and parameter records.
• Lead and develop operators and technicians in the sand plant.

Foundry Manufacturing Industry

Position: Section In-Charge - Sand Plant

Department: Sand Plant Maintenance

Experience: 5-10 Years in Foundry Sand Plant / Moulding Operations

Qualification: Diploma / BE / B.Tech - Mechanical / Production / Foundry Technology

Key Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for sand plant operations, production and quality.
• Control and maintain green sand properties such as moisture, compactability, permeability, GCS and other defined parameters.
• Ensure proper sand preparation, mixing, reclamation and distribution as per process standards.
• Monitor sand plant equipment, mixers, conveyors, screens, coolers and reclamation systems.
• Ensure availability and proper control of bentonite, coal dust, additives and other consumables.
• Coordinate with Moulding, Melting, Quality and Maintenance departments for smooth production.
• Analyze and control casting defects related to moulding sand such as blowholes, scabs, sand inclusion, veining and poor mould strength.
• Monitor sand consumption, rejection, productivity and process losses and initiate improvement actions.
• Ensure implementation of 5S, safety, SOPs, Kaizen and continuous improvement activities.
• Maintain daily production, quality and process parameter records.
• Lead and develop operators and technicians working in the sand plant.

Desired Skills

• Strong knowledge of Green Sand Process and Sand Plant Operations.
• Good understanding of foundry defects and their relationship with sand properties.
• Knowledge of sand testing and process control.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to lead manpower and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, TPM and safety practices will be an advantage.
