Job summary

Carelon Global Solutions (CGS) in Bengaluru is seeking a seasoned AI Engineer (SE/SSE/Lead) to architect, build, and deploy Generative AI solutions including LLMs, RAG, and autonomous agents. You will bridge research and production, delivering scalable AI workflows and leading a team of engineers.

Ideal candidates will have deep expertise in PyTorch or TensorFlow, LangChain and multi-agent systems, and a track record of production-grade pipelines with CI/CD and MLOps concepts.

Qualifications

• Experience architecting and deploying LLM/RAG/agent-based systems.
• Strong Python data science stack and ML framework expertise.
• Hands-on with PyTorch or TensorFlow in production.
• Proven ability to build multi-agent AI ecosystems.
• Experience with retrieval and vector DB workflows.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking SE/SSE/Lead - AI Engineer to lead the architecture, development, and deployment of our next-generation Generative AI solutions. In this role, you will bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and robust production software, building scalable LLM, RAG, and Agentic workflows that drive meaningful business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• System Architecture: Build, deploy, and scale enterprise-grade LLM, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and autonomous agent-based systems.
• Pipeline Engineering: Architect high-throughput, low-latency LLM inference and production deployment pipelines.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize model footprints and configurations for efficient, cost-effective production scaling.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with data science, research, and product engineering teams to map business logic to AI solutions.
• Engineering Excellence: Drive clean code practices, unit/integration testing, reproducibility, and automated CI/CD workflows.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and champion modern software engineering best practices.
• Responsible AI: Establish and enforce guardrails to ensure ethical, secure, and legally responsible AI development.

Required Technical Skills

• Core Languages: Advanced Python programming with solid mastery of NumPy, Pandas, and scikit-learn.
• Deep Learning Frameworks: Deep hands-on expertise in PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Generative AI Frameworks: Production experience with Hugging Face Transformers and LangChain (including prompting & fine-tuning).
• Agentic Ecosystems: Proven experience building multi-agent architectures using AutoGen, CrewAI, or LangGraph.
• Data Retrieval: Strong expertise designing advanced RAG pipelines, semantic search configurations, and vector databases.
• Software Engineering: Strong foundations in microservices architecture, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and concurrency management.
• Execution: Demonstrated ability to rapidly prototype, stress-test, and productionize GenAI systems.

Good-to-Have Skills (Preferred)

• Model Optimization: Exposure to model compression techniques including Quantization (GPTQ, AWQ), pruning, or knowledge distillation.
• Multimodal AI: Hands-on experience dealing with text, vision, and audio models (e.g., CLIP, BLIP, Whisper, LLaVA).
• LLM Infrastructure: Experience serving LLMs using FastAPI alongside vector store engines (FAISS, Pinecone, Chroma).
• DevOps & MLOps: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Git, and MLflow.
• Cloud Platforms: Deployment experience on cloud ecosystems such as AWS (SageMaker), Azure AI, or GCP.
• Data Pipeline Systems: Experience with data pipelines and ELT/ETL architectures using Snowflake.
