Job Summary
In this role, you will work with the project team to prepare schedule data for proposals or contract negotiations. You will apply established unit job hour and pricing data, perform schedule integrations, prepare work logic, identify restraints and potential impacts, develop recovery plans, and evaluate subcontractor schedules for improvements. You will be instrumental in ensuring projects stay on track and on time.
Role Overview
This position is offered under Bechtel’s ‘Reduced Status’ employment model. It is designed for candidates seeking a consistent, shortened workweek (between 16–30 hours) while maintaining a strategic, professional role within the organization.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pro-rated Compensation: Salary is calculated on a pro-rata basis (percentage factor) of the agreed working hours. This pro-rated amount serves as the base for all statutory contributions, including Provident Fund (PF).
- Full Insurance Coverage: Unlike traditional part-time roles, Reduced Status employees remain eligible for Company-sponsored Health, Term Life, and Personal Accident Insurance.
- Prorated Leave & Incentives: Leaves included but not limited to Vacation and Casual/Sick leaves are accrued pro-rata based on your specific schedule. Eligibility for the Company Incentive Program is maintained with a minimum requirement of 1,040 hours worked annually.
Major Responsibilities
- Prepares schedule data for proposals or contract negotiations.
- Applies established unit job hour and pricing data for a specific discipline or other specialty including estimating parameters, factors, indices, productivity, and craft distribution reference data.
- Performs integration of individual schedules into the total project plan.
- Prepares performing organization's work logic in support of overall project schedule.
- Performs schedule resource loading and leveling.
- Maintains open communications with other organizations to support schedule maintenance and reporting.
- Identifies schedule restraints.
- Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule.
- Develops schedule recovery plans.
- Evaluates subcontractor schedules for required workarounds or potential schedule improvements.
- Manages look-ahead schedules, work front analysis and tracks quantities for key commodities.
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Networks with key contacts in own area of expertise and may network with contacts outside own area of expertise.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Typically requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
- Design/Engineering Office experience of minimum 5 years is must as a scheduler/planner in large scale EPC projects.
- Experience in Thermal Power projects either in Design/Engineering Office or Field.
Required Knowledge And Skills
- Works without supervision with wide latitude for judgment.
- Assists and may mentor less experienced team members.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
- Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present schedule products independently with minimal supervision.
- Skilled in understanding technical processes, engineering drawings, quantity determinations, and financial reports.
- High proficiency with PC operating systems, including Primavera. Proficiency with multiple discipline-specific software applications currently used (Microsoft Office Applications, for example). Resource Loading experience and ability to generate various plan curves data out of Primavera.
