Job Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting implementation of project‑specific cost control and reporting procedures, estimating, analysis and control activities for projects with significant non‑routine requirements. You will prepare cost studies, cost trends, and develop and implement project requirements for cost control. Your analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.
Role Overview
This position is offered under Bechtel’s ‘Reduced Status’ employment model. It is designed for candidates seeking a consistent, shortened workweek (between 16–30 hours) while maintaining a strategic, professional role within the organization.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pro‑rated Compensation: Salary is calculated on a pro‑rata basis (percentage factor) of the agreed working hours. This amount serves as the base for all statutory contributions, including Provident Fund (PF).
- Full Insurance Coverage: Reduced Status employees remain eligible for Company‑sponsored Health, Term Life, and Personal Accident Insurance.
- Prorated Leave & Incentives: Leaves such as Vacation and Casual/Sick are accrued pro‑rata based on your schedule. Eligibility for the Company Incentive Program is maintained with a minimum requirement of 1,040 hours worked annually.
Major Responsibilities
- Performs routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities as directed.
- Supports the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports.
- Assists with budget allocation, reporting, and cost control for specific construction disciplines or groups of disciplines.
- Prepares cost data for proposals and contracts.
- Coordinates the development and accuracy of cost reports.
- Verifies consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and accuracy.
- Prepares specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures.
- Investigates requirements for estimating and cost control data.
- Collects and classifies cost data.
- Performs budget allocation, reporting, and cost control for designated construction disciplines.
- Prepares cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Typically requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
- Design/engineering office experience of minimum 3–5 years is required as a Cost specialist on projects with EPC scope.
Required Knowledge And Skills
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors.
- Demonstrates judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Networks and connects with internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.
- Can work with minimal supervision and some latitude for judgment.
- Possesses problem‑solving responsibility while working under defined guidelines.
- May assist less‑experienced team members.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
- Proficiency in domain specific software applications – Microsoft Office Applications, Ecosys, Power BI, etc.
