Job Summary

Electrical Engineer experience on basic and detailed design and project co‑ordination of electrical works on infrastructure, power, oil‑and‑gas and M&M projects.

Role Overview

This position is offered under Bechtel’s 'Reduced Status' employment model. It is designed for candidates seeking a consistent, shortened workweek (between 16‑30 hours) while maintaining a strategic, professional role within the organization.

Compensation & Benefits

Pro‑rated compensation: Salary is calculated on a pro‑rata basis (percentage factor) of the agreed working hours. This pro‑rated amount serves as the basis for all statutory contributions, including Provident Fund (PF).

Full insurance coverage: Reduced Status employees remain eligible for company‑sponsored health, term life, and personal accident insurance.

Prorated leave & incentives: Leaves, including but not limited to vacation and casual/sick leaves, are accrued pro‑rata based on your specific schedule. Eligibility for the company incentive program is maintained with a minimum requirement of 1,040 hours worked annually.

Major Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, coordinate, and review engineering work within a discipline on a project or assignment in a global business unit.
• Supervise day‑to‑day technical work of discipline engineers, specialists, designers, and drafters.
• Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports in accordance with approved procedures and hold career development discussions.
• Prepare or oversee the preparation of discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manage implementation and performance accordingly.
• Estimate staffing needs and schedules and assign work to meet schedule dates.
• Coordinate with client representatives to obtain their approval on phases of work.
• Review and approve key engineering drawings and calculations, including field and design documents relating to the discipline.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Recognized bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university, with overall experience of minimum 13 years.
• Site experience is an added advantage.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Extensive knowledge of electrical system studies using ETAP software; conversant with short‑circuit, load flow, motor starting and voltage drop calculations, main single‑line diagram, protection and metering diagrams, relay setting and protection coordination, emergency diesel generator sizing, underground cable sizing, grounding.
• Experience with equipment sizing, specifications, MR preparation, technical bid evaluation, and vendor print reviews of various electrical equipment such as switchyard, transformer, bus duct, MV & LV switchgear, MCCs, power and distribution transformers, DC systems/UPS, cables, generator circuit breakers, lighting fixtures.
• Review of 3D models in S3D and Autodesk Revit using SPR or Navisworks; stakeholder in 30%, 50% and 90% model reviews with client, vendor, and subcontractors.
• Vendor print review of mechanical packages.
• Preparation of three‑line diagrams, logic diagrams, single‑line diagrams; conversant with electrical layouts such as raceways, lighting, grounding and lightning protection layouts.
• Skill in oral and written communication; demonstrated leadership skills.
