Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Bengaluru seeks a Senior SAP TM Solution Architect to define, design, and implement enterprise-wide transportation management solutions across our global operations. You will drive SAP TM transformations, leverage SAP BTP and AI to enable scalable, intelligent logistics.

Lead architecture governance, review technical designs, mentor project teams, and ensure alignment with enterprise standards. A decade of SAP TM experience plus cloud integration expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of SAP experience with at least 7 years in SAP TM.
• Proven track record delivering global SAP TM implementations and transformations.
• Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA TM, BN4L, BTP, and EWM/GTS is preferred.

The opportunity

As a SAP TM Solution Architect, you will play a critical role in defining, designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-wide transportation management solutions that enable efficient, scalable, and intelligent logistics processes across our global business landscape.

In this role, you will combine transportation management expertise, solution architecture leadership, and emerging technologies such as SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive innovation and operational excellence. You will lead SAP TM transformation initiatives, define strategic roadmaps, and deliver robust, integrated logistics solutions aligned with business objectives and enterprise architecture standards.

• Define and govern the SAP TM solution architecture strategy, standards, and roadmap across global business functions.
• Design scalable, standardized, and best-practice transportation management processes that support global logistics operations.
• Ensure solution alignment with enterprise architecture principles, cybersecurity requirements, compliance regulations, and digital transformation objectives.
• Lead architecture reviews, solution governance forums, and technical decision-making processes.
• Design and optimize SAP TM capabilities including Freight Unit Building, Transportation Planning, Load Planning and Optimization, Carrier Selection, Freight Order Management, Transportation Execution, Freight Settlement, Cost Allocation, Charge Management, Logistics Visibility, and Event Tracking.
• Drive global standardization and harmonization of transportation management processes and solutions.
• Provide technical leadership for SAP TM solution development and architecture.
• Review and approve technical designs, enhancements, custom developments, and solution integrations.
• Deliver expertise in ABAP OO, BOPF Framework, FPM Applications, CDS Views, OData Services, APIs, Enhancement Framework, Workflow, and BRF+.
• Architect SAP BTP-based extensions, integrations, and cloud-native transportation management solutions.
• Evaluate and implement innovative technologies and digital capabilities that improve transportation planning, visibility, and execution.
• Enable event-driven and API-based architectures to support modern business processes and integrations.
• Define and lead AI-enabled transportation optimization strategies.
• Evaluate AI and machine learning use cases including route optimization, shipment consolidation, predictive freight planning, load planning optimization, transportation exception management, and logistics cost optimization.
• Support the integration of AI services within SAP solutions and external platforms.
• Lead adoption and integration of SAP Business Network for Logistics (BN4L), including carrier collaboration, freight tendering, shipment tracking, and logistics visibility capabilities.
• Strengthen collaboration with carriers, freight forwarders, logistics providers, and external business partners.
• Define end-to-end integration architecture between SAP TM and connected systems, including SAP S/4HANA, SAP EWM, SAP GTS, SAP BTP, BN4L, third-party logistics providers, and external carrier platforms.
• Ensure reliable, scalable, and secure integrations using APIs, IDocs, events, middleware technologies, and SAP Integration Suite.
• Act as the senior escalation point for critical SAP TM issues and support complex incident resolution activities.
• Conduct root cause analysis, provide solution recommendations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and guide functional consultants, developers, and project teams to build organizational capability and best practices.

Your background

• Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of SAP experience, with at least 7 years of hands-on expertise in SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM).
• Proven experience as an SAP TM Solution Architect within complex global organizations.
• Strong expertise in transportation management, logistics operations, freight management, and supply chain processes.
• Experience delivering global SAP implementation, transformation, and rollout programs.
• Deep knowledge of SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM) and SAP S/4HANA TM.
• Experience with SAP Business Network for Logistics (BN4L), SAP BTP, SAP EWM, and SAP GTS.
• Strong technical architecture knowledge covering ABAP OO, BOPF, FPM, CDS Views, OData Services, APIs, BRF+, Enhancement Framework, and SAP Integration Suite.
• Experience with RAP (RESTful Application Programming Model) is preferred.
• Strong understanding of cloud-based architectures, integration patterns, and event-driven solutions.
• Familiarity with AI and machine learning applications in transportation and logistics domains is highly desirable.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrates effective use of AI and digital tools to enhance problem-solving, decision-making, and productivity, while applying sound judgment, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and maintaining accountability for outcomes.
