Job Description Test Tool Administrator (qTest)
Role Summary
The Test Tool Administrator is responsible for the administration, configuration, and governance of the qTest test management platform. The role ensures consistent use of qTest across testing phases such as SIT, UAT, DITL, and Regression, providing accurate reporting, traceability, and audit readiness. The administrator acts as a bridge between testing teams, IT support, and program governance.
Key Responsibilities – qTest Administration & Configuration
- Administer and maintain the qTest test management tool
- Configure projects, releases, test cycles, and test suites
- Manage user roles, permissions, and access controls
- Maintain standard templates for test cases and execution
- Support all testing phases including SIT, UAT, DITL, and Regression
User Management & Support
- Create and manage user accounts and access roles
- Onboard and train business and testing users
- Provide day-to-day support for qTest-related issues
- Act as first-line support for test tool queries
Test Governance & Standards
- Enforce test management standards and naming conventions
- Ensure end-to-end traceability across requirements, test cases, execution, and defects
- Maintain audit-ready test evidence
- Support internal and external audit requirements
Integration & Reporting
- Support integration with Jira, Azure DevOps, or other defect tracking tools
- Create dashboards and reports for test execution and defect status
- Provide regular status reports to Test Managers and Program Leadership
Test Asset Management & Continuous Improvement
- Support migration of test assets from legacy tools
- Maintain reusable test case repositories
- Stay current with qTest enhancements and recommend process improvements
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience administering qTest
- Strong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)
- Experience supporting UAT, SIT, DITL, and Regression testing
- Strong reporting and analytical skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience in SAP testing environments (ECC or S/4HANA)
- Knowledge of test automation integration
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related discipline with strong background in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) , Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)
- qTest certification (preferred)
- ISTQB certification (added advantage)

Experience : 4+ years in
Certifications( Optional )
- qTest Certification or demonstrable hands‑on experience administering qTest (preferred)
- ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Level Certification (added advantage)
- Any additional QA, Test Management, Agile, or DevOps certification is a plus
Experience Details
- 4–8 years of overall experience in software testing, quality assurance, or test management support roles
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience as a Test Tool Administrator, preferably with qTest
- Proven experience supporting multiple testing phases, including:
- System Integration Testing (SIT)
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Day-in-the-Life (DITL) / Business Simulation Testing
- Regression Testing
- Experience managing enterprise‑scale test environments with:
- Multiple projects, releases, and test cycles
- Large user groups including business testers and SMEs
- Hands‑on experience in:
- Test case creation, structuring, and reuse
- Test execution tracking and evidence management
- Defect lifecycle integration (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps)
- Experience providing tool governance and standards, including:
- Naming conventions
- Traceability standards
- Audit and compliance support
- Prior experience working in SAP testing programs (ECC or S/4HANA) or other large ERP implementations is highly desirable
- Experience supporting production‑critical or regulated environments (SOX, internal audits, compliance‑driven programs) preferred
