Job summary

Connexions Data is seeking a senior SAP S/4HANA ABAP Technical Consultant / Technical Lead Deployment to independently lead ABAP technical delivery for SAP S/4HANA initiatives, including conversions and global rollouts. The role requires deep ABAP and S/4HANA extensibility expertise and the ability to guide teams through design, build and cutover.

The candidate will own technical architecture, oversee WRICEF work, and drive best practices in performance and integration.

Qualifications

• 12+-15+ years of SAP ABAP experience with focus on S/4HANA deployments.
• Experience leading ABAP technical delivery for S/4HANA implementations, conversions or rollouts.
• Strong customer-facing ownership and design/estimate responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead integration developments using IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, OData/REST APIs and event patterns.
• Guide remediation for ECC to S/4HANA with simplification items and ATC checks.

Role: SAP S/4HANA ABAP Technical Consultant / Technical Lead Deployment

Responsibilities: We are looking for a senior SAP S/4HANA ABAP professional with 12+- 15+ years of relevant experience who can independently lead ABAP technical delivery for SAP S/4HANA implementation, conversion, or global rollout programs. The role requires strong customer-facing ownership, deep ABAP and S/4HANA extensibility expertise, and the ability to guide teams through design, build, testing, and cutover with high quality.

• Lead end-to-end ABAP technical delivery for SAP S/4HANA programs (Greenfield / Brownfield / Global Rollouts) as Senior SME / Technical Lead
• Own technical solution design, estimates, and execution across WRICEF objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflows)
• Drive S/4HANA extensibility strategy: key-user extensibility, developer extensibility, and clean-core principles
• Build and optimize ABAP developments using modern ABAP (7.4+), OOP, CDS views, and performance best practices
• Lead integration developments using IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, OData/SAP Gateway, REST/SOAP APIs, and event-based patterns where applicable
• Guide remediation efforts for ECC custom code adaptation to S/4HANA (simplification items, ATC checks, SQL performance, deprecated objects)
• Lead technical workshops with customers to clarify requirements, propose solution options, and finalize designs
• Own code quality, peer reviews, transport governance, and DevOps/CI-CD alignment (where applicable)
• Support SIT/UAT defect resolution, cutover activities, and hypercare stabilization
• Mentor developers, manage technical risks, and act as escalation point for complex issues

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as primary ABAP technical SME for the customer and program leadership
• Create and govern technical architecture/design documents and build standards
• Strong hands-on expertise in Core ABAP, ABAP OO, ALV, Enhancements (BAdI/User-Exit), Forms (Adobe/Smartforms), and Workflows
• Develop CDS Views, AMDP (as needed), and support ABAP for Fiori/OData enablement
• Drive interface and integration build with middleware (SAP CPI/PI/PO or equivalent) and external systems
• Ensure performance tuning: SQL optimization, parallelization approaches, batch jobs, and memory analysis
• Collaborate with functional, data, basis, security, and testing teams to ensure end-to-end delivery

Requirements:

• Minimum 12+-15+ years of SAP ABAP experience with strong focus on SAP S/4HANA deployments
• Minimum 3 full lifecycle SAP S/4HANA implementations/conversions/rollouts with significant custom build responsibility
• Strong skills in Core ABAP, ABAP OO, ALV, BAPI, BAdI, Enhancements, ALE/IDocs, RFC, and Debugging
• Experience with S/4HANA adaptation and remediation (ATC, simplification items, custom code analysis)
• Experience with CDS Views, OData/SAP Gateway, and ABAP for Fiori enablement
• Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
• Proven ability to lead customer discussions independently and drive technical decisions

Project-Specific Requirements:

• Strong experience in developing technical designs and estimating ABAP work for large S/4 programs
• Hands-on experience building integrations (IDocs / APIs) and supporting data migration conversions
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum or SAFe delivery models
• Ability to coordinate multi-vendor teams and manage delivery dependencies
• Experience supporting cutover planning, mock loads, and go-live readines
