Job summary

Fashionc Overseas Exports is seeking a skilled Sampling R&D Technician to develop, test, and improve garment samples according to buyer requirements, tech packs, and production standards. The candidate will work closely with Sampling, Merchandising, Production, Quality, and Design teams to ensure accurate sample development and smooth transition from development to bulk production.

Strong knowledge of garment construction, sewing operations, patterns, measurements, and tech packs is essential,

Qualifications

  • ITI / Diploma / Degree in Garment Technology, Apparel Production, Fashion Technology, or related field.
  • Industry experience may substitute formal qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and prepare garment samples as per buyer specifications, tech packs, sketches, and measurement charts.
  • Study tech packs, construction details, measurements, fabrics, trims, and accessories before sample development.
  • Conduct R&D on new garment constructions, sewing techniques, finishing methods, and production processes.
  • Coordinate with the sampling team for proto, fit, size set, salesman, pre-production, and other required samples.
  • Check garment measurements, construction, fitting, workmanship, and finishing against approved specifications.
  • Identify technical issues during sample development and provide practical solutions.
  • Work on sample corrections and modifications based on buyer comments and fitting feedback.
  • Coordinate with pattern makers, sample operators, merchandisers, designers, and production teams for timely sample completion.
  • Conduct trials of new fabrics, trims, wash effects, embellishments, and construction techniques.
  • Ensure proper use of fabrics and trims during sample development and minimize wastage.
  • Maintain sample development records, comments, approvals, and revision details.
  • Support the team in developing cost-effective and production-friendly garment constructions.
  • Ensure that approved samples can be efficiently replicated during bulk production.
  • Identify potential production problems during the sampling stage and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain approved samples and reference samples systematically.
  • Follow quality, safety, and company SOP requirements.
  • Participate in sample review meetings and provide technical inputs.
  • Support continuous improvement and innovation in garment sampling and product development.

Job description

Required Skills & Competencies
  • Good knowledge of garment construction and sampling techniques.
  • Strong understanding of sewing operations and garment finishing.
  • Knowledge of patterns, measurements, fit, and garment specifications.
  • Ability to understand and interpret tech packs and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of different fabrics, trims, accessories, and garment construction methods.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify technical issues and suggest practical solutions.
  • Good coordination and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of garment quality standards.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Excel and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively with Merchandising, Design, Production, and Quality teams.
Educational Qualification
  • ITI / Diploma / Degree in Garment Technology, Apparel Production, Fashion Technology, Textile Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant industry experience may be considered in place of formal qualification.
