Portofino Gallery is a boutique luxury furniture gallery featuring pieces from leading Italian designers,
curated Indian design partnerships, and The Portofino Collective — a series of custom pieces created
with design thought leaders. We're looking for a Sales Lead to own revenue growth for the gallery:
converting our existing client base, building relationships with the trade, and translating strong brand
storytelling into closed sales.
What you'll do
- Own and grow gallery sales, from walk-in and showroom clients to large trade orders
- Build and manage a network of interior designers, architects, and real estate developers as a consistent referral and specification channel
- Develop and run a formal trade program (previews, trade pricing, dedicated catalog)
- Host and manage showroom events, designer previews, and client experiences
- Work closely with marketing to convert content and campaign interest into actual sales conversations and closes
- Track pipeline, conversion rates, and client relationships; report on sales performance
- Represent the gallery at design industry events, fairs, and partner activations
What we're looking for
- 4+ years in sales, ideally in art, design, or luxury furniture (art sales experience strongly preferred, given the boutique/curated nature of the collection)
- An existing network of interior designers, architects, and/or real estate developers in Mumbai
- Comfort selling considered, high-ticket purchases — able to build trust and guide a longer sales cycle rather than push transactional sales
- Strong understanding of, or genuine interest in, design and craftsmanship — ability to speak credibly about materials, designers, and provenance
- Excellent relationship-management and client-hosting skills
- Self-starter comfortable owning a P&L-relevant number in a small, entrepreneurial team
Nice to have
- Existing relationships with real estate developers for staging/furnishing pipelines
- Experience running or supporting trade/B2B programs in a gallery, showroom, or design retail setting
