Job summary

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system, including hot work, work at height, excavation, lifting, electrical work, and confined space work.
• Ensure proper implementation of LOTO and electrical isolation procedures.
• Monitor work-at-height fall-protection systems and crane/hydra operations.
• Ensure safety in scaffolding, tools, and tackles; monitor fire prevention and emergency preparedness.
• Ensure compliance with excavation safety, housekeeping, and site traffic-management requirements.
• Monitor PPE usage and temporary electrical power arrangements.
• Support incident and near-miss investigations and maintain daily/weekly safety reports.
• Maintain employee and contractor safety induction and training records.

Job description

We are looking for a Project Safety Officer to support and monitor HSE activities at project sites. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with established safety procedures, conducting site inspections, monitoring permit-to-work activities, supporting risk assessments, and promoting a safe working environment across all project activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions and practices.
• Monitor compliance with approved HIRA/JSA, risk assessments, method statements, and safety procedures.
• Monitor and control the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system, including:
• Hot Work
• Work at Height
• Excavation
• Lifting Activities
• Electrical Work
• Confined Space Work
• Ensure proper implementation of LOTO and electrical isolation procedures.
• Monitor work-at-height and fall-protection systems.
• Ensure safe execution of crane/hydra operations, lifting activities, scaffolding, tools, and tackles.
• Monitor fire prevention measures, firefighting arrangements, and emergency response preparedness.
• Ensure compliance with excavation safety, housekeeping, and site traffic-management requirements.
• Monitor PPE compliance and ensure appropriate PPE is used at site.
• Monitor temporary electrical power arrangements and distribution-board safety.
• Implement appropriate safety controls during lightning, adverse weather, and other environmental conditions.
• Monitor environmental and waste-management practices at the project site.
• Ensure contractors and vendors comply with project HSE requirements.

HSE Documentation & Reporting:

• Prepare and maintain Daily Safety Inspection Reports.
• Review HIRA/JSA and Method Statements from a safety perspective.
• Monitor and maintain PTW records.
• Maintain Toolbox Talk and safety training records.
• Support incident and near-miss investigations and documentation.
• Prepare monthly HSE reports and track safety KPIs.
• Maintain employee and contractor safety induction and training records.
• Good knowledge of site safety practices and HSE procedures.
• Strong understanding of HIRA/JSA, PTW, LOTO, electrical safety, and work-at-height safety.
• Good communication and site coordination skills.
• Ability to identify unsafe conditions and stop unsafe work when required.
• Strong contractor and vendor management skills.
