Job summary

Trehan IRIS is seeking a Project EHS Officer / Asst. Manager to oversee site safety, risk assessment, and PTW compliance on high‑rise construction projects.

You will lead daily inspections, toolbox talks, inductions, and safety training while ensuring adherence to EHS regulations and company procedures. You will review risk assessments and JSA/JHA, monitor PPE usage, and manage incident reporting and investigation.

Qualifications

• Minimum BSc/Diploma/Degree in Engineering.
• ADIS/Diploma/Post Diploma/Degree in Industrial Safety with NEBOSH-IGC.
• 6–8 years of relevant experience in High Rise Building Projects.
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English with good presentation and communication skill.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of the construction site and identify unsafe acts or conditions; ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
• Prepare and review risk assessments, JSA/JHA, and method statements; identify hazards and suggest control measures.
• Implement and monitor the PTW system; ensure work starts only after safety controls are in place.
• Inspect scaffolding, ladders, platforms, and fall protection; ensure safe use and risk control at openings and edges.
• Inspect cranes, lifting equipment, vehicles, power tools, and machinery; ensure operators are competent and procedures followed.
• Inspect excavations for collapse, water accumulation, and access; ensure shoring and barricading as required.
• Monitor temporary electrical installations; check earthing, cables, and safety devices; prevent unsafe connections.
• Maintain and practice fire safety equipment and emergency drills; ensure evacuation procedures.
• Ensure PPE usage and conduct PPE inspections and training.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, inductions, and activity-specific training.
• Report and investigate accidents and near misses; document root causes and corrective actions.
• Monitor contractor safety compliance; conduct contractor safety meetings and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with EHS requirements, regulations, and company procedures.
• Prepare safety reports and track KPIs (near misses, inspections, hours, incidents).
• Maintain the Project Safety Plan and site visitors register.

Role Title: Project EHS- Officer / Asst. Manager

Job Descriptions:

• Conduct daily inspections of the construction site. Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions. Ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly. Monitor neat & clean access routes, lighting, barricading and signage.
• Prepare and review Risk Assessments, JSA/JHA, and Method Statements. Identify hazards associated with construction activities. Recommend suitable control measures according to the hierarchy of controls.
• Implement and monitor the Permit to Work (PTW) system. Ensure work starts only after required safety controls are in place.
• Inspect scaffolding, ladders, platforms, guardrails, and lifelines. Ensure proper use of full-body harnesses and fall-arrest systems. Control risks associated with openings, edges, roofs, and elevated work.
• Inspect cranes, lifting equipment, vehicles, power tools, and machinery. Ensure operators are competent and authorized. Monitor compliance with lifting plans and safe operating procedures.
• Inspect excavations for collapse, water accumulation, access/egress, and hazardous conditions. Ensure appropriate shoring, sloping, barricading, and access arrangements.
• Monitor temporary electrical installations. Check earthing, ELCB/RCCB, cables, distribution boards, and electrical tools. Prevent unauthorized electrical work and unsafe connections.
• Ensure availability and accessibility of fire extinguishers and emergency equipment. Conduct emergency drills. Maintain emergency response and evacuation procedures.
• Ensure workers use appropriate PPE such as helmets, safety shoes, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and fall protection. Conduct PPE inspections and awareness programs.
• Conduct toolbox talks and daily safety briefings. Provide induction training to new workers and contractors. Conduct activity‑specific safety training.
• Report and investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences. Identify root causes and recommend corrective/preventive actions. Maintain incident and safety records.
• Monitor contractors and subcontractors for compliance with project safety requirements. Review contractor safety documentation. Conduct contractor safety meetings and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with applicable EHS requirements, construction regulations, environmental requirements, and company EHS procedures. Maintain required statutory and inspection records.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports. Maintain inspection checklists, PTW records, training records, incident reports, and corrective-action registers. Track safety KPIs such as near misses, inspections, training hours, and incidents.
• Ensure the Project Safety Plan is maintained and adopted on site.
• Monitor and ensure that all visitors to the project have signed the site attendance / visitors register and are always escorted unless they have been formally inducted.
