Job summary

Galacon Infrastructure And Projects in India seeks a Safety Coordinator to implement and monitor HSE policies on construction sites. You will oversee compliance with regulations, perform regular site inspections, and ensure proper PPE usage across workers, staff, and visitors.

You will conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and training; maintain safety records and permit-to-work systems; investigate incidents and drive corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies and procedures at the project site.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, client requirements, and project safety standards.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
• Ensure proper use of PPE by all workers, staff, and visitors.
• Conduct Toolbox Talks, Safety Induction, and Safety Training for workers and site personnel.
• Prepare and maintain safety documentation, inspection reports, checklists, and records.
• Monitor safety practices for activities such as excavation, scaffolding, lifting, work at height, electrical work, hot work, and confined spaces.
• Issue and monitor Permit to Work (PTW) as required for high-risk activities.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences and prepare reports.
• Recommend and monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct emergency preparedness drills such as fire, evacuation, and rescue drills.
• Inspect fire extinguishers, firefighting equipment, first-aid facilities, scaffolding, ladders, lifting tools, and other safety equipment.
• Coordinate with project management and site teams to ensure safe execution of construction activities.
• Maintain records of safety statistics, inspections, training, incidents, and corrective actions.
• Ensure proper housekeeping and safe access/egress throughout the project site.
• Support internal and external HSE audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
• Promote a strong safety culture among employees, contractors, and subcontractors.
