Job summary

Behari Lal Engineering in Punjab, India, seeks an experienced HSE professional to lead safety in a steel manufacturing environment. You will implement and monitor safety policies, procedures and SOPs on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Ensure fire safety, emergency drills, and preparedness.
• Monitor machine guarding, housekeeping, and safe material handling.
• Maintain safety registers, inspection reports, and training records.
• Support internal safety audits and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

• Ensure proper use of PPE by employees, workers, and contractors.
• Monitor permit-to-work systems for hot work, work at height, confined spaces, and electrical maintenance.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and regular safety awareness training.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure fire safety, emergency preparedness, and mock drills.
• Monitor machine guarding, housekeeping, and safe material handling practices.
• Maintain safety registers, inspection reports, training records, and other HSE documentation.
• Support internal safety audits and ensure compliance with applicable statutory requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

• 23 years of relevant experience in a steel manufacturing plant or heavy industrial environment.
• MSW Safety Certification, as required by the employer, or a relevant recognized Industrial Safety qualification.
• Knowledge of industrial safety practices, PPE, HIRA, JSA, fire safety, and permit-to-work procedures.
• Good communication, observation, reporting, and coordination skills.
• Ability to work on the plant shop floor and coordinate with production and maintenance teams.
