Job summary

Genius Consultants is seeking an EHS professional to support the EHS Manager in Chennai. The role involves supervising environmental, health, and safety tasks, monitoring permits, coordinating with PMC, and ensuring safe construction practices.

You will perform site inspections across fire pump rooms, STP, and hazardous areas; conduct risk analyses; maintain EHS records; and deliver safety training to workers and contractors.

Qualifications

• Diploma or engineering with 2+ years of EHS experience.
• NEBOSH certification enhances suitability.
• Proficiency in MS Office and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Support EHS Manager/Lead in day-to-day activities related to environmental, health, and safety.
• Monitor work permits and campus activities to ensure safe working conditions.
• Coordinate with PMC for accident-free construction activities.
• Inspect fire pump rooms, service blocks, HSD yards, LPG banks, and STP.
• Conduct risk analysis and implement mitigation measures.
• Maintain records and documentation related to EHS.
• Inspect machinery and equipment for compliance and safety.
• Check firefighting and detection systems for proper functioning.
• Provide safety training to construction workers and service staff.
• Coordinate safety induction for workers with PMC.
• Oversee contractor safety programs.

Main responsibilities

• Support EHS Manager/Lead: Assist in day-to-day activities related to environmental, health, and safety.
• Work Permits and Campus Activities: Monitor work permits and other campus activities to ensure safe working conditions.
• Construction Safety: Coordinate with Project Management Consultants (PMC) to ensure accident-free construction activities.
• Regular Inspections: Inspect fire pump rooms, service blocks, HSD yards, LPG banks, and sewage treatment plants (STP).
• Risk Analysis: Conduct risk analysis and implement solutions to mitigate risks and hazards.
• Record Keeping: Maintain records and documentation related to EHS.
• Equipment Inspection: Inspect machinery, lifting tools, and other equipment for compliance and safety.
• Firefighting Systems: Check firefighting and detection systems for proper functioning.
• Training: Provide safety training to construction workers and service staff.
• Safety Induction: Ensure safety induction for workers in coordination with PMC.
• Contractor Safety: Oversee contractor safety programs.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

• Familiarity with NBC (National Building Code), and NFPA (National Fire Protection Association).
• Knowledge of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards (an advantage).
• Understanding of environmental regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Engineering With 2+ years of experience.
• Additional certifications like NEBOSH enhance suitability.
• Proficiency in MS Office and PowerPoint.
