Job summary

SGS India is seeking a Safety Officer to oversee daily safety operations on site. The role includes monitoring safety practices, ensuring PPE compliance, managing permits, and conducting toolbox talks to promote a safe work environment.

The candidate will coordinate with site teams, maintain safety records, and support emergency drills and incident response to ensure rapid and effective safety management on site.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily site safety surveillance and identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and environmental deviations.
• Ensure PPE compliance, barricading, signage, access control, and implementation of site safety instructions at work fronts.
• Verify work permits at the field level and check readiness for high-risk activities such as work at height, lifting, hot work, and confined space work.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks, worker interactions, and basic safety awareness checks before shift commencement.
• Record observations, near misses, inspection findings, and site deviations, and report them promptly to the Assistant Safety Manager/Deputy Safety Manager.
• Support incident response, emergency drills, first-aid readiness, and evacuation arrangements at site.
• Maintain field registers related to inspections, training attendance, PTW checks, and safety observation closure.
• Follow up with contractor supervisors for immediate rectification of unsafe conditions and compliance gaps.
