Job summary

SGS India is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to lead PMCEHS across the project lifecycle and drive the Project Safety Management System. You will set strategic direction for statutory compliance, client EHSMS requirements, Zero Harm objectives, and client expectations, and review project-level EHS plans and safety controls.

The role includes leading client and contractor engagements, supervising incidents investigations, leading monthly safety reviews, ISO coordination, and mentoring the safety

Responsibilities

• Lead overall PMCEHS function and drive implementation of the Project Safety Management System across the project lifecycle.
• Provide strategic direction on statutory compliance, Client EHSMS requirements, Zero Harm objectives, and client expectations.
• Review and approve project-level EHS plans, contractor safety strategies, high-risk activity controls, and compliance frameworks.
• Lead engagement with client leadership, senior contractor management, authorities, and key stakeholders on EHS matters.
• Oversee major incident investigations, approve RCA and CAPA, and ensure closure of critical risks and systemic issues.
• Chair or lead monthly safety reviews, regional walkthroughs, ISO coordination, SLA review, and performance governance.
• Guide environmental compliance strategy, legal compliance conformance, audit readiness, and management reporting.
• Mentor the Deputy Safety Manager, Assistant Safety Manager, and Safety Officers and ensure team effectiveness.
