Job summary

ROCKWOOL Group is seeking a Safety Officer for a Greenfield project in India. The role focuses on establishing a safe and secure work environment, ensuring regulatory and ISO compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture across the project team.

You will lead risk assessments, implement PPE controls, organize training sessions, and coordinate safety audits. Collaboration with project managers, engineers, and contractors is essential to integrate safety into planning and execution.

Responsibilities

• Safety Compliance: ensure local, regional, national safety regulations and ISO 45001/14001 align with the Greenfield project.
• Risk Assessment: perform thorough risk assessments and mitigation planning.
• Policies and Procedures: implement safety policies, procedures, and protocols for the project.
• Training: organize safety trainings, workshops, and orientations for personnel.
• Site Inspections: conduct regular safety inspections of site, equipment, and work areas.
• Incident Management: investigate incidents, prepare reports, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Emergency Response: develop and drill emergency response plans and procedures.
• Safety Reporting: maintain records and safety metric reports.
• PPE Management: oversee PPE distribution, maintenance, and usage across the site.
• Safety Communication: liaise with contractors and management on safety matters.
• Safety Audits: conduct audits and prepare ISO documentation.
• Continuous Improvement: stay updated on safety trends and technologies and drive improvements.
• Collaboration: work with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to embed safety in planning.

1. Job Purpose & Scope

Safety Officer is responsible for Greenfield Project, and primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain a safe and secure work environment for all personnel involved in the project. He will play a critical role in ensuring MMR compliance with safety regulations, implementing safety protocols, and promoting a culture of safety awareness. His efforts will contribute to the overall success of the project by minimizing risks, preventing accidents, and fostering a safe working environment.

2. Key Result Areas

To respond to the requisition, raise by user department & to ensure the availability of material and services at right place, with right quality, required quantity, with required documents and the optimum cost.

3. Key Responsibilities & Job Content

3.1 Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national safety regulations, as well as industry best practices for the Greenfield project.

3.2. Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments for various project phases, identifying potential hazards and suggesting mitigation measures to prevent accidents and incidents. Periodical risk assessment to be carried out for all the MOC,s.

3.3. Safety Policies and Procedures: Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and protocols tailored to the unique requirements of the Greenfield project as mentioned in the MMR.

3.4. Training and Education: Organize safety training programs, workshops, and orientations to educate project personnel about safe work practices, emergency response procedures, and the proper use of safety equipment.

3.5. Safety Inspections: Regularly inspect the project site, equipment, and work areas to identify safety hazards, non-compliance issues, and potential risks. Action plan to be done and collaborate with relevant parties to address and rectify these concerns.

3.6. Incident Management: Promptly respond and prepare investigation report for all incidents, accidents, and near misses. Document findings, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

3.7. Emergency Response: Develop and communicate emergency response plans and procedures. Coordinate periodical Mock drills and simulations to ensure preparedness in the event of emergencies.

3.8. Safety Reporting: Generate and maintain accurate records and 8D reports related to safety inspections, incidents, training, and safety-related performance metrics.

3.9. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Oversee the new implementation, proper use, maintenance, and distribution of required PPE across the project site as per the requirements in MMR.

3.10. Safety Communication: Facilitate clear communication channels between project stakeholders, contractors, and management regarding safety-related matters.

3.11. Safety Audits: Conduct periodic safety audits to assess the effectiveness of safety programs, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed. And Audit documents to be prepared as per the requirements of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.

3.12. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and emerging safety technologies. Integrate new practices and technologies to enhance the project's safety program. And conduct regular safety committee meeting as per the requirements.

3.13. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution
