Job summary

Elecbits Technologies in Bengaluru is seeking a technically strong RFQ Engineer to evaluate customer RFQs, assess manufacturing feasibility, prepare accurate cost estimates, and work closely with engineering, procurement, production and sales teams to deliver competitive quotations.

Ideal candidates will have EMS/Contract Manufacturing exposure, knowledge of PCB assembly, BOM analysis, DFM/DFA, and a proven ability to manage multiple RFQs with tight deadlines while maintaining profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or a related field.
• 35 years of experience in RFQ Engineering, Costing, Applications Engineering, NPI, or EMS/Contract Manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of PCB Assembly (SMT/THT), BOM analysis, DFM/DFA, electronics components, RFQ processes and costing.

Responsibilities

• RFQ Evaluation & Technical Assessment: review RFQs, BOMs, Gerber files, and specs to assess manufacturability.
• Cost Estimation & Quotation Preparation: estimate material, manufacturing, labor, tooling, testing and NRE costs.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, Production and Sales for inputs.
• BOM Analysis & Component Management: analyze BOMs for availability, lead times, and alternatives.
• RFQ Documentation & Process Improvement: maintain trackers and improve turnaround and accuracy.
• Customer & Business Support: assist proposals and provide technical clarifications during discussions.

Role Objective

We are looking for a technically strong and detail-oriented RFQ Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will evaluate customer RFQs, assess manufacturing feasibility, prepare accurate cost estimates, and work closely with engineering, procurement, production, and sales teams to deliver competitive quotations. This role is ideal for someone with experience in the EMS/Contract Manufacturing industry who enjoys solving technical and commercial challenges.

Key Responsibilities

1. RFQ Evaluation & Technical Assessment

• Review customer RFQs, including BOMs, Gerber files, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Assess product manufacturability, component availability, and process feasibility using DFM/DFA principles.
• Identify technical risks, gaps, and special manufacturing requirements before quotation.

2. Cost Estimation & Quotation Preparation

• Prepare accurate cost estimates covering material, manufacturing, labor, tooling, testing, and NRE costs.
• Develop competitive quotations while ensuring company pricing guidelines and profitability targets are met.
• Deliver quotations within the committed turnaround time with high accuracy.

3. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, Production, and Sales teams to validate technical and commercial inputs.
• Obtain component pricing, manufacturing estimates, and production feasibility for accurate costing.
• Support technical discussions and clarify customer requirements whenever needed.

4. BOM Analysis & Component Management

• Analyze BOMs for component availability, lifecycle status, lead time, and alternate part options.
• Coordinate with sourcing teams to identify cost-effective procurement solutions.
• Highlight supply chain risks and recommend alternatives where applicable.

5. RFQ Documentation & Process Improvement

• Maintain RFQ trackers, quotation records, costing templates, and documentation.
• Monitor quotation status and maintain data for win/loss analysis.
• Continuously improve RFQ processes to reduce turnaround time and enhance accuracy.

6. Customer & Business Support

• Work closely with Business Development and Sales teams to support customer proposals.
• Provide technical clarifications during customer discussions and quotation reviews.
• Ensure a professional and responsive customer experience throughout the RFQ lifecycle.

Preferred Skills-:

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or a related field.
• 35 years of experience in RFQ Engineering, Costing, Applications Engineering, NPI, or an EMS/Contract Manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of PCB Assembly (SMT/THT), BOM analysis, DFM/DFA, electronic components, RFQ processes, costing, and New Product Introduction (NPI).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems or quotation tools; capable of managing multiple RFQs with accuracy and meeting tight timelines.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
