Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Component Engineer to support the Purchase Department by managing electronic and electromechanical components throughout their lifecycle. The role focuses on cost optimization, RFQ management, alternate sourcing, and BOM risk mitigation, ensuring uninterrupted supply and improved product cost efficiency.
Key ResponsibilitiesComponent Lifecycle ManagementMonitor and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of electronic components (Active, Passive & Electromechanical).Identify risks related to EOL (End of Life), NRND (Not Recommended for New Design), and Obsolescence.Develop and implement mitigation strategies such as alternate sourcing, LTB (Last Time Buy), and bridge solutions.RFQ & Cost ReductionSupport Purchase team in RFQ preparation and analysis.Conduct cost comparison and benchmarking across suppliers and distributors.Drive value engineering initiatives to achieve cost reduction through alternate components.Prepare Master Clarification Lists (MCL) and validate BOM assumptions during RFQ stage.BOM Management & ValidationPerform BOM scrubbing, validation, and risk assessment.Identify critical and high-risk components in BOM and propose alternatives.Ensure accurate Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) and Manufacturer (MFR) validation.Alternate Sourcing & Supplier CoordinationIdentify and validate second sources / alternate components (FFF equivalent).Coordinate with suppliers, distributors, and manufacturers for:PricingAvailabilityLead timeCompliance dataSupport vendor evaluation and capability assessment.Compliance & DocumentationEnsure components meet regulatory standards such as RoHS, REACH, UL.Handle PCN (Product Change Notification) and PDN (Product Discontinuation Notice).Maintain technical documentation, datasheets, and validation reports.Cross-functional CollaborationWork closely with Design, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.Support NPI (New Product Introduction) activities.Assist in resolving procurement and incoming quality issues (IGI-related).
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering.Experience in EMS/OEM environment.Exposure to value engineering and product reliability concepts.Knowledge of Excel automation, macros, and data analysis tools.
