Job summary

VIAVI Solutions seeks an experienced Revenue Recognition professional to ensure proper revenue recording and compliance with ASC 606. The role covers month-end close, revenue packages, and collaboration with legal and sales on contracts to resolve issues.

You will review transactions, advise on non-standard terms, and ensure consistent application of revenue policies worldwide, supporting year-end close and SOX controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in finance, Accounting or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience with at least 2 years revenue recognition experience.
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, xlookups, filtering) and MS Office.
• Ability to work in a high paced team environment.
• Willingness to learn and can-do attitude.
• Proactive and a team player.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to independently work on ad hoc projects.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with process owners to obtain supporting documents for revenue transactions.
• Review revenue transactions and prepare revenue packages.
• Provide technical assistance to regional controllers on revenue accounting.
• Advise other organizations on revenue recognition issues.
• Ensure revenue accounting policies are documented and applied worldwide.
• Participate in company-wide projects impacting revenue accounting and analysis.
• Undertake quarter-end and year-end close tasks during close.
• Maintain SOX compliance for all revenue-related controls.
• Maintain deferred revenue and deferred COGS; handle monthly closing.
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of ASC 606.

Implements controls and evaluates actions required for compliance with the company's revenue recognition accounting process, including the bookings and billings process. Performs regular and special analysis (such as reviews of organizational billing practices) to ensure invoice accuracy and proper revenue recognition. Analyzes third party payments and verifies compliance with contractual terms, fee schedules, or other formal agreements. Completes all required month-end close activities including revenue reconciliation and management reporting. May work with legal and sales personnel in reviewing revenue contracts to ensure adherence to company policies and resolves any revenue issues. Follows control procedures and interacts with audit or other functions in the approval of product discount pricing, vendor-specific objective evidence studies and significance analysis to ensure compliance with company policy and proper revenue recording.

Performs significant analysis to ensure compliance with company policy and proper revenue recording.

• Responsible for providing technical assistance to regional controllers on revenue accounting and implications of non-standard contractual terms
• Advise other organizations regarding revenue recognition issues
• Ensure revenue accounting policies are documented and applied consistently on a worldwide basis
• Participate in and/or lead company-wide projects that impact revenue accounting and analysis
• Undertake various quarter-end and year-end review tasks during the close process
• Maintain SOX compliance for all revenue related controls
• Maintain deferred revenue and deferred cogs and responsible for monthly closing activities
• In depth knowledge of ASC 606.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in finance, Accounting or related discipline
• 5+ years of experience with at least 2 years revenue recognition experience.
• Must be an advanced user of Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, xlookups, filtering) and other Microsoft Office products.
• Must be able to work in a high paced team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Public company or Big 4 experience preferred
• CPA/CA/CMA or equivalent a strong plus
