Job summary

AECOM is hiring a Senior Civil Engineer to lead day-to-day technical supervision for highway construction in India. You will oversee earthwork, pavement, drainage, road safety, and major bridges, ensuring alignment with approved designs and standards.

You will monitor project schedules, quality control, and contractors’ work; review designs and method statements; coordinate with clients, design teams, and authorities; and support progress reporting and documentation to meet project objectives.

Qualifications

• Civil engineering degree from a recognized university.
• 12 years of experience in highway projects.
• At least 5 years in a similar highway development role.
• Led at least 2 major projects (4/6/8 laning or similar).

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical supervision and engineering guidance for highway construction.
• Supervise earthwork, pavement, drainage, road safety, and highway structures.
• Monitor work programmes, methodologies, quality control, and progress.
• Review designs, drawings, method statements, material submissions, test results, and technical documents.
• Ensure compliance with MoRTH/NHAI specifications, IRC codes, BIS standards.
• Supervise rehabilitation, repair, strengthening and maintenance of major bridges and highway structures.
• Monitor QA, site inspections, measurements, testing, non-conformities and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Contractor, Client, Team Leader/Project Manager, Design Team, authorities and stakeholders.
• Assist the Team Leader/Project Manager in progress monitoring, technical reporting, payment verification, road safety, and project documentation.

Job Description

• Provide day-to-day technical supervision and engineering guidance for highway construction and development works.
• Supervise construction activities including earthwork, pavement, drainage, road safety, road furniture, interchanges, and associated highway structures in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Monitor the Contractors work programme, construction methodology, quality control procedures, and progress to ensure timely completion of works.
• Review and verify designs, drawings, method statements, material submissions, test results, and technical documents submitted by the Contractor.
• Ensure compliance with applicable MoRTH/NHAI specifications, IRC codes, BIS standards, approved project specifications, and contractual requirements.
• Supervise and monitor construction of major bridges and structures, including foundations, substructures, superstructures, approaches, and associated works.
• Supervise rehabilitation, repair, strengthening, and maintenance works of major bridges and highway structures, as applicable.
• Monitor quality assurance, site inspections, measurements, testing, non-conformities, and corrective actions and maintain proper site records.
• Coordinate with the Contractor, Client, Team Leader/Project Manager, Design Team, authorities, and other stakeholders for resolution of technical and site-related issues.
• Assist the Team Leader/Project Manager in progress monitoring, technical reporting, payment/quantity verification, road safety, project documentation, and achieving project objectives related to quality, time, and cost.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

1. Graduate in Civil Engineering from a recognized University.
2. Professional Experience of at least 12 years in Highway Projects.
3. At least 5 years experience in similar capacity in Highway Development Project.
4. Should have handled at least 2 major projects (of length 40% of project length or more of similar configuration (4/6/8 laning) and above)

Preferential Qualifications:

1. Post Graduate Degree in Transportation/Highway Engineering/Structural Engineering/Geotechnical Engineering/any specialized stream of Civil Engineering.
2. Attended Minimum 5 days training programme in field related to Design and supervision of Highways related topic from IAHE.
3. Experience of Highway Project (of length 40% of project length or more of similar configuration (4/6/8 laning) and above) of Construction / Construction Supervision / IC of Highway projects, Interchange / any other structures.
4. Experience in similar capacity in supervision of at least 2 Major Highway Bridges.
5. Experience in supervision of Rehabilitation and repair of 2 nos Major Bridges.
