Job summary

AECOM in India is seeking a seasoned Senior Quality/Material Expert to lead QA/QC for major highway projects. You will develop, review, and implement QA/QC procedures, ITPs, and quality management systems, and ensure compliance with MoRTH/NHAI, IRC, BIS standards and contract requirements.

You will supervise laboratory and field testing, assess material sources, and coordinate with Client, Project Manager, and contractors to resolve quality issues and drive project success.

Qualifications

• Civil engineering degree from a recognized university.
• At least 10 years’ experience in highway projects.
• Minimum 5 years as Senior Quality/Material Expert in construction.
• Experience on at least 2 similar highway projects (40%+).
• Medical fitness certificate if age above 60.

Job Description

• Provide expert technical guidance and supervision for quality assurance and material control for highway construction projects.
• Develop, review, and monitor the implementation of Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and quality management systems.
• Review and approve, as applicable, material sources, material specifications, mix designs, method statements, and quality control procedures submitted by the Contractor.
• Supervise and monitor laboratory and field testing of construction materials, including soil, aggregates, cement, concrete, bituminous materials, and other highway construction materials.
• Ensure that all materials and construction works comply with MoRTH/NHAI specifications, IRC codes, BIS standards, approved project specifications, and contractual requirements.
• Monitor construction quality through site inspections, testing, sampling, quality audits, and verification of test results, and identify deviations and non-conformities.
• Advise on appropriate corrective and preventive measures for defective works, material failures, non-conformities, and quality-related issues.
• Assess and recommend suitable sources of construction materials, including borrow areas, quarries, aggregates, and other material sources, based on technical suitability and test results.Maintain and review quality records, laboratory reports, test registers, inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and material approval records, and provide inputs for periodic progress reports.
• Coordinate with the Client, Team Leader/Project Manager, Contractor, laboratory personnel, and other technical specialists to resolve quality and material-related issues and ensure satisfactory project execution.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

1. Graduate in Civil Engineering from a recognized University.
2. Professional Experience of at least 10 years in handling Highway projects.
3. Experience of at least 5 years as Senior Quality/Material Expert or similar capacity in Construction / Construction Supervision / major highway projects.
4. Experience as Senior Quality/Material Expert or similar capacity in handling of at least 2 similar highway projects (of length 40% of project length or more).
5. Medical certificate of fitness as per Appendix-B-l.(in case of Age being more than 60 years)

Preferential Qualifications:

1. Post Graduate Degree in Geotechnical Engineering / Foundation Engineering / Soil Mechanics.
2. Trained in 16 days material testing process course from IAHE or CRRI.
