Responsibilities

• Assist the faculty with ongoing research work including literature review, data collection, database management, and analysis.
• Data collection including scraping data from websites or documents and formatting for analysis.
• Data cleaning and documenting best practices in data cleaning.
• Data management by linking datasets, ensuring data quality, and processing raw data into modeled datasets.
• Econometric analysis for exploratory data analysis and causal estimation, including visualization and reporting.

Prof. Manish Gangwar

Professor Manish Gangwar is a leading academic in business analytics, pricing and data-driven strategy. At ISB, he serves as Associate Professor of Marketing and Executive Director of the Institute of Data Science. His expertise spans machine learning, econometrics, game theory, omnichannel retail, dynamic pricing, SaaS revenue models, and the intersection of AI and marketing.

He holds a PhD in Management Science from the University of Texas at Dallas, an MS from the University of Kentucky, and a BE from IIT Roorkee. Widely recognised for his contributions to research and teaching, he serves on editorial review boards of prestigious academic journals and is regarded as one of India’s foremost voices in data science and analytics

Roles and Responsibilities

You will:

• Assist the faculty – Assisting in their ongoing research work which includes literature review, data collection, database management, and analysis.
• Data collection – Scraping data from websites or documents and compilation into usable formats for analysis.
• Data cleaning – Replicating prior work to document best practices in data cleaning
• Data management – Linking different datasets, ensuring data quality, and processing raw data into processed datasets for modelling and estimation.
• Data analysis – Econometric analysis for exploratory data analysis and causal estimation, including visualization and reporting, along with sound knowledge in signal processing/latent models.
• Synthesis - Literature search and review, summary, presentation, and analytical writing.
• Time commitment: This role will be for a minimum of two years

Required Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications

• Master from DSE or ISI or a reputed institution in India or abroad. B Tech from IIT or B Tech/Master with a high CGPA. MBA from IIM ABCs.
• Experience in the industry is preferred but not required

Skills and requirements:

• Strong motivation to pursue a career in research in Marketing (please explain in your cover letter)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to every detail.
• Strong team player with cross-functional skills.
• A background in econometrics is highly desired.
• Strong coding proficiency in Python, SQL, Stata, R.
• Knowledge of various text mining algorithms and their use cases as well as text pre-processing and normalization techniques.
