Job summary

Ampath Trust in Hyderabad, India, seeks a skilled laboratory professional to join our cytogenetics and general lab operations. You will prepare specimens from body fluids, blood, tissue, and other samples, and perform analyses following lab SOPs to ensure accurate results.

You will implement accreditation guidelines (ISO 15189, NABL, CAP), monitor daily quality control, maintain equipment, and keep meticulous records. Teamwork and confidentiality are essential in this role.

Responsibilities

• Implements & follows accreditation guidelines, ISO 15189, NABL 112, CAP and policies and procedures as indicated in the AmPath quality documents.
• Follows internal quality control procedures as per SOPs and monitors daily internal quality control, recording deviations if any.
• Inspects incoming samples against set acceptance and rejection criteria.
• Prepares specimens for laboratory testing.
• Performs analysis of biological specimens (body fluids, blood, tissue, urine, bone marrow, lymph node) using manual methods per lab SOPs.
• Maintains logbooks and worksheets; records activities accurately and timely.
• Performs maintenance of laboratory equipment as per the defined program.
• Conducts daily culture room cleaning, equipment maintenance, log sheets, arc...ving slides and TRFs per cytogenetics guidelines.
• Performs FISH procedures on all sample types using manual methods as per SOPs.
• Contributes to teamwork in the laboratory and maintains clean equipment and storage procedures.
• Adheres to safe laboratory practices and regulations.
• Attends training programs and maintains daily inventory logs.
• Ensures active vaccination status and handles other job-related tasks as assigned by Department Consultant.
• Maintains strict confidentiality of medical records and patient data.

Job description

• Record the activities accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain records legible and neat.
• Performs maintenance laboratory equipment as per the defined program in the laboratory.
• Performs daily culture room cleaning, daily maintenance of equipment, filing of the log sheets and register, archiving of slides and pellets, culture set up and harvest, slide preparation, scoring, capturing, karyotyping and report preparation of all sample types and archiving of slides and TRF?s as per guidelines in the cytogenetics department.
• Perform FISH procedure of all types of biological specimen like blood samples, tissue, bone marrow, lymph node etc. using manual methods as per lab SOPs.
• Contributes to an atmosphere of teamwork in the laboratory.
• Maintain clean medical laboratory equipment.
• Storage & discard of examined samples as per the lab defined procedure.
• Implements a safe laboratory environment in compliance with good practices and applicable regulations.
• Attend monthly department and QAD training programs and any other external training programs organized by the management.
• Preparing & Maintaining daily inventory log.
• Ensure active vaccination status.
• Performs all other job-related activities assigned by Department Consultant.
• Maintains strict confidentiality related to medical records and other patient / clinical data.
