Purpose
TheCEEW’s Sustainable Water Programme informs policy-making for the sustainabledevelopment of water resources and their effective management through researchin areas of mainstreaming climate resilience in water security planning;circular economy in used water management and water bodies rejuvenation;sustainable development through policy coherence in food, land, and watersystems; and water accounting-based planning.
For its Sustainable Water programme, CEEW seeks to hire a programme associate (PA)/research analyst (RA) with a strongunderstanding of climate risk assessment in the water sector in general, andthe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) system in particular. Thecandidate should also possess a sound understanding of the policy, governance, hydrology, social, and economiclandscape for sustainable water management; have a good grasp of the secondarydatasets required for risk assessments and water security planning; possessstrong skills in data analysis and research writing; and support theorganisation in expanding its network with government and non-governmentstakeholders in Indian states.
Job duties and accountabilities
- Conductqualitative and quantitative research, encompassing both primary and secondarysources.
- Assist in the development of the researchmethodology.
- Identify,download, and support in processing the right datasets for risk assessment.
- Supportin the preparation of research reports an d presentations.
- Supportin p publishing in leading peer-reviewed journals and generating other knowledgeproductsfor different audiences, such as blogs, policybriefs, op-eds, etc., at regular intervals.
- Manage relationships with project counterparts from CEEW’s partners.
Project assistance
- Assist senior researchers in the team in conceptualising new projectsand developing high-impact research proposals.
- Contribute to the development of cross-team research proposals and undertake such research studies.
- Assist with project and programme implementation, including preparingpresentations, factsheets, and other communication materials.
- Assist with effectiveoutreach of research outputs through coordination with the outreach team and engagement witha broader network of stakeholders and concerned policymakers.
- Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and training programmesfor a comprehensive understanding of developments relevant to WASH, hydrology, climate impacts andrisks, and other relevant themes.
- Asrequired, assist senior team members in important meetings and sessions bypreparing notes and conducting follow-ups.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and assist with preparing minutesand chairing the weekly meetings.
- Any other assistance that may be required.
Selection criteria
Qualification and work experience:
- Master(of technology or arts) degree in water resources with a holistic understandingof water resources planning and management.
- A minimumof 3-4 years experience working on climate risk and resilience incorporatingsocial, hydrological and economic lenses and policies needed for WASH andoverall water security.
Key skills:
- Excellentawareness of the governance and policy landscape of the climate and watersector, so as to support interdisciplinary research.
- Excellentin data source identification, mining, and organisation.
- Excellentresearch skills to support quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- Goodwriting skills to support reports and other content writing
- Abilityto use the MS Office application suite.
- Effectivepresentation skills are essential for delivering clear, concise, and adaptableverbal and written communication.
