Designationoffered : Research Analyst
Reporting to : Chief of Staff
Purpose:
CEEW seeks to hire a Research Analyst who would work in the Foresight team . CEEW offers anintellectually challenging and conducive work environment, with a focus onresearch rigour, innovative thinking, and strategic outreach. We are lookingfor an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual who would be excited to workon a diverse range of subjects and contribute to the dynamic researchenvironment at CEEW.
CEEW has an interdisciplinary research cultureand its value comes from adopting different methods and connecting dots acrosspolicy and industry verticals. T he ResearchAnalyst would work on a range of cutting-edge governance and policyissues: energy transitions, sustainablefinance, AI, resource security, climate governance,international negotiations , and academic writing. The candidate willalso support the team in organising high-level diplomatic engagements withinternational organisations, embassies, and global partners. They will getsupport, opportunity, and learning from a team of dynamic colleagues.
The successful applicant will assist the Chiefof Staff with robust quantitative and qualitativeanalysis. In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined below, s/heshould be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additionalresponsibilities and respond to events and developments that cannot beanticipated easily.
Job Duties and Accountabilities
Research
Successfulcandidate is expected to assist the CEO’s office in the following:
- Undertake rigorous qualitative and quantitativeanalysis on a range of subjects as described above
- Collect, collate and review large amounts of dataand analyse information using a variety of mathematical tools andinterdisciplinary methodologies
- Reach out to organisations (government andprivate) and sectoral experts to identify and explain trends in technologies,finance, policies and citizen behaviour
- Track technological and political developmentsand engage with government, industry, investors and other stakeholders
- Track global developments related to environmentalissues viz-a-viz international governance, trade, fin ance andtechnologies through both primary and secondary research
- Co-author reports, issue briefs and developideas for blogs and other outreach submissions based on research
- Write short memos for research and policyaudiences
- Actively engage with industry stakeholders andgovernment officials to communicate and create impact with research findings
- Contribute to other teams’ research objectives tothe extent that their skillset adds value to the output, on request orotherwise
Programme Assistance
- Assist with projectimplementation, including preparing presentations, factsheets and othercommunication material
- Respond to research requests, and synthesiseinformation is salient formats
- Assist with programme implementation, includinghelp with preparing presentations and policy recommendations
- Assist with building a database and relationshipswith a wider community of experts, scholars, institutions and potential donorsin the energy, environment and water domains
- Assist with planning and executing events such asreport launches, consultation workshops, round table discussions, etc.
- Contribute to reports and other research productsas part of the research team
- Participate constructively in weekly teammeetings
- Accompany the CEO and other team members formeetings with other stakeholders; prepare minutes of the meetings and assistwith relevant follow up
Selection Criteria
Education
- Completed an undergraduate degree; ideallyfocussing on economics / public policy / finance / law / internationalrelations / development studies; a Masters’ degree in these domains is anadvantage, but not mandatory
- Demonstrated excellence in course-work/capstoneprojects in quantitative research is an added bonus
Workexperience
- 0 -2 years of relevant work experience
- Experience in dealing with public and privateinstitutions within and outside India is desirable, particularly at founder’soffices / public policy think tanks / MP’s office / law firms
- Superior analytical abilities, effective oral andwritten communication skills are necessary prerequisites
- Ability to analyse information and present in aclear and compelling manner
- Comfortable with numbers and ability to makesense out of large data sets
- Excited by a multidisciplinary role
- Ability to manage time effectively to handlemultiple requests at the same time
- Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic andfluid environment
- Ability to communicate and coordinate effectivelyas a team member
- Ability to work in multicultural teams
Compensation
