Overview
Remote Chemistry Researcher (PhD) - 34441. Turing is looking for PhD-level researchers in Chemistry to test the reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs). You’ll create chemistry problems, analyze model responses, and identify gaps in logic or understanding. The goal is to measure how well these models handle abstract thinking and structured problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Create chemistry problems and review how the AI solves them, sharing insights on its understanding of complex reasoning and logical steps.
- Develop tasks such as analyzing gasification or reactor model scenarios and evaluating model responses for accuracy and reasoning quality.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback with examples.
- Communicate findings through written reports, especially in remote settings.
- Work independently with stable computer and internet access.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or have completed a Ph.D. or Postdoctoral fellowship in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Strong written communication, especially in remote settings.
- Able to provide clear, constructive feedback with examples.
- Comfortable working independently.
- Stable computer and internet access.
Time Commitment & Contract Details
- Commitments: at least 4 hours per day and minimum 20 hours per week with 4 hours overlap with PST. Options: 20 hrs/week, 30 hrs/week, or 40 hrs/week.
- Engagement type: Contractor assignment / freelancer (no medical/paid leave).
